If you have a BIG mess with soot, call a Pro but for smaller areas, this eraser does very well. Eraser? smells and feels like one and does well for awhile until it loads up and then all your doing is smearing the soot all over the place. There's no way to avoid the problem except to have several clean sponges on hand then wash'em and let them dry-real dry. The product does what it says. Just buy more than one.

I was not optimistic when I bought this product. We bought a house with 30+ years of soot build up on the front of the fireplace and based on the other reviews, I figured this wasn't going to work on that much of a mess. It was cheap, so I went ahead and bought it. It shipped that day and I had it the next! I immediately tried using it and it's like a miracle eraser. I LOVE IT! I make one swipe and all the soot comes off! It's seriously awesome. There are a few really black spots left that I'm going to have to use something else on, but for 95% of the build up, this sponge worked wonders! I had a couple of wild candles that caused soot on my wall. the sponge removed most of the soot but a small amount remained.

I ordered these packets on a lark. When it came time to use them, I was thrilled to read that the correct way to use them is to throw the whole packet in. No opening, no sprinkling, no mess -just throw in the whole packet (or add a second one for even more color, particularly if you have a big fireplace.) Overall it is a nice trap. The problem I had was the weight of the groundhog caused the metal to bend which caused a gap between door and rest of trap. I bought this heater after seeing how highly rated it isand you guys were right! This is the best little heater ever. I bought it to keep me warm in the bathroom (I have one of those awful new house designs where the master bathroom is completely open to the master bedroom.) It works great. Gets very hot or just warm thanks to the dial. The only down side is that there is no off switchbut it is just as easy to pull the cord out of the wall as it is to turn a switch off! Portable and can be taken from room to room in one hand.

I love this heater. I use it all the time at work and it keeps me warm and toasty. I love that it has a dial so that if you get too hot you can turn it down. It heats up super quick and turns itself on and off to keep the right temperature. Its nice and small and has a nice look to it too. I like it so much that I'm buying another one to keep my bathroom warm for when I take showers. Oh, and for the people that say there is no on/off switch, you just turn the dial all the way down to turn it off. This is the perfect little heater and I know space heaters as I own about 3 of them already. I use this one at work. We aren't supposted to have space heaters but it is soooo cold at work that I would be absolutely miserable without it. Because of the size, it's easy for me to keep this one out of sight. I keep it plugged in to its own surge protecting power strip so it doesn't ever disturb the other computers in the area. When I leave for the day, I can lock it up in one of my filing cabinets. I can't say enough good things about it. I love the thermostat feature, if I get too warm, it's easy to turn down. I just ordered a second one for my bathroom. I purchased this heater to add a little heat to my office, which luckily for me has a window, but unluckily for me, also has a draft. I've been very happy with the results! The built-in thermostat keeps the office at a steady temperature, which is perfect. It doesn't take up much space, which is also a bonus. Downsides: There is no off-switch, so I have to unplug it at the end of the day. That's not so great, because occasionally I forget if the blower is not actively running when I'm getting ready to leave. The noise level from the machine is reasonable, though certainly not silent. In summary, this model perfectly meets my needs. For the price and convenience, it is worth tolerating the minor downsides. And it was affordable. I'd definitely purchase this model again.Update 11/26/06: I said I'd purchase this again, and now that I have a new drafty bedroom, I have just ordered this product again. I anxiously await its arrival this week.

We wanted a simple stove to heat approx 1000 sq ft. This stove works very well, at times, too well! Husband installed w/o much trouble. Pressed logs work great with this stove making burn times longer thru the night. Depending on wood used and temps outside, it may be necessary to stoke during the overnite hours. This is our main source of heat and it does the job.
