I had to speak with my contractor prior to purchasing this item because I knew that it would be too tall to sit on top of my hearth. When I was ready to install it, my contractor and his carpenter came back to cut the legs down to the height I needed (lower part of the leg right above the plinth blocks you can't tell they were trimmed). It looks amazing and everyone loves it. I painted this white it is just beautiful. Our contractor put black marble with the white mantel went perfect with our columns in our living room.I love this mantle. It looks beautiful in our master bedroom. Very expensive looking in person.
