I had a bit of trouble putting mine together. Some of the connections were tight. I needed to protect two of the rods as I clamped on them to tighten them but the finish still scuffed off a bit. I also found that once I had put the top on the rod for the base that I could use that for some leverage to tighten it. Pay attention in the diagram to which length of rod goes with which tool and that the shorter screw end goes into the base. Other than that it seems fine.

Great quality easy to put together perfect size to do job. Love it!!!We have a smaller fireplace so this set of tools worked out perfectly. I have absolutely no complaints with the set. Nice build quality, fast shipping at a very good price.I would purchase these again without hesitation in the month of use.Fireplace tools don't work well in a wood stove too long, making the "work" you are trying to do awkward. This set not only is the right length but contains the 4 tools I really wanted.
I had read other review that talked about the brass handles being plastic. Our set has solid brass handles.Really looks nice next to the stove.Got this set for my condo fireplace, which is a bit on the small side, so it compliments it very well and does it's job well. It looks good and is very sturdy. Well pleased!
