I was surprisingly pleased with the Eva Dry mini dehumidifier. I hang mine just out outside our guinea pig's cage and it absorbs excess moisture quite effectively, keeping their food and cage area from getting too humid. It takes several weeks to fully absorb moisture but the indicator will go from blue to bright pink, and the unit will be noticeably heavier. Just plug the unit into the socket overnight to refresh.

I have 5 of these Eva-Dry rechargable dessicating dehumidifiers. Here in humid NC, using the larger in 4x8 closet works well. Takes some time, but definite measurable difference of 10-15% or so on humidity gauge after a couple of days. Need to recharge once a week here where even with the air conditioning on, indoor rel humidity is over 50% most days.

The larger EDV-500 has a much better hook which fits through the holes in the Eva-Dry EDV-500 plug, a feature that is not very well documented!

Also, there are occasional specials: recently a 2 for 1 sale on the EDV-500 with free shipping.

Only reason for not giving this product a 5 star is that as stated in other posts, the recharge process gets the unit very hot and it doesn't always sit well in an outlet without support. I too had one unit fall, and was fortunate the case stayed intact but the little beads could make for a real mess if the unit broke open!

But the real mess this thing avoids is dealing with drying chemicals that collect water and the dissolved dessicant. When that tips over, it is a wet mess, so the EDV-500 and EDV-300 avoid that type of mess.

PS where in the world did someone get the idea to label this "wireless" in the Amazon description? Very misleading!

I prefer this product over refilling messy damp aid units anyday (yuck!).

It seems to keep the closet fairly dry. Two problems. Problem 1. When I renew one of the units, it falls out of the outlet unless I support it with something else. This could be dangerous since it heats up. I'm able to renew it on a counter outlet but could be a more problematic for a regular outlet that has more space between outlet and floor. Problem 2. My boyfriend who I forgot to tell about the unit, went into my closet like a bull in a china shop and it fell off its hook and broke (glass beads everywhere) I had to buy a new one after only a month. There should be a more secure way to affix the unit to hang in the closet or perhaps customer should opt to put it on the floor. The hook is fairly flimsy and if you have kids or clutzy significant others, hanging just isn't a good option for a closet that is full and tight.

I got the 500 for my 1.6 cubic ft. AMSEC safe for my handguns and important documents and use a wireless temperature/humidifier sensor to measure the moisture. It works well and keeps moisture at bay.

Con: After a month and 2 renews, the unit stopped renewing. The unit would not heat up to release the moisture from the unit. Did a little troubleshooting and found that the collapsible power plug wouldn't make contact when plugged into the wall. This is the contact between the plug and the unit itself and not the wall. The weight of the unit when plugged into the wall would tend to pull itself away and cause it not to make contact with the unit. I verified this with a Fluke multimeter while pulling on the plug it would lose connection. The only work around is to charge it upright on a power strip where the weight would help give it a better connect.

The unit gets very HOT! I assume this is normal considering it needs alot of heat to release the moisture from the unit. I'm just afraid it might catch on fire one day during a renew. To be on the safe side, I renew in the middle of my tile floor.

I purchased this about a month ago for a beer keg refrigerator that kept collecting standing water on the bottom. I would use towels to soak up the half inch of water from the bottom of the fridge, but when I would open the fridge to check it again a week later, the water would always be back. Since I put this de-humidifier into the fridge a month ago, the fridge is still completely dry, and the beads have yet to change color at all, so I haven't yet had to "recharge" the dehumidifier. It's done just what I needed it to do. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

---UPDATE---

To my surprise, it was over 7 months before any moisture appeared in the bottom of the fridge again. I plugged in the Eva-Dry for about a day and a half (until I could see pink beads again), and put it right back in the fridge, which has been dry ever since (1 month and counting).

Along with my Wonder Washer and Wonderwash Laundry Mini Countertop Clothes Spin Dryer Portable Clothes Dryer I have a complete portable laundry center. All three items are small and compact for easy storage.

This setup reduces the trips to the laundromat and has paid for itself in no time. Really great to have when boondocking (I have solar and a genset) and are miles from a laundry. I still wash my sheets,and blankets at the laundry. Almost everything else is doable with this setup even my jeans, one bath towel per ld, washcloths,etc,.

For water conservation when boondocking I just wash a light colored load first. After it finishes I place the wet clothes in the spin dryer with the drain hose positioned into Wonder Washer tub so that the wash water can drain back into the washer. I then wash the 2nd load and run them through the spin dryer. I then fill the Wonder Washer with fresh water and follow the same sequence to rinse both loads.

The mini spin dryer is very effective in removing excess water from the laundry and does not stretch items out of shape as hand wringing often does.

After wringing in the spin dryer I place the items on hangers and into the portable clothes dryer that I have set up under my Fantastic Fan vent in the living area so that the humid air can be directed outside. Most things dry in about 15-20 minutes. If the weather is nice I do not put the cover on or use the heat, I instead just airdry. I also have a Whitmor 6023-741 Folding Drying Rack, White that works well for air drying outdoors as well as indoors.

This heating unit can be used as a electric room heater by setting up the base but do not put the center pole with the drying arms or the cover on. It gently blows out hot air which warms the room. Talk about multi-functional.

The three legs slide easily into slots on the heating unit base. The center pole is in segments and easily goes together with the umbrella style upper pole to hang the clothes on. The dryer cover is heavy nylon with a heavy duty full length zipper. This makes for an easy setup as well as compact storage.

This setup would work well for dorm rooms, small apts, as well as RVS.

I was overjoyed when I stumbled upon this product since my apartment is only 400sqft and I could take it apart and store it under my bed. Along with a Haier portable washer, I have my very own laundry system and I no longer have to fight over the one washer and dryer with everyone else in the building. I got mine for cheaper on ebay, as a previous reviewer mentioned and since I got it, laundry has been so easy! A couple of quick things: a) people are saying that it doesn't dry well, and to that I say mind the instructions! It says that it can only handle about 20lbs of laundry. Think about it, if it works by blowing hot air into and around your clothes, how can it possibly work if you've decreased the amount of space in which that hot air has to work? My machine works perfectly; the few times things haven't been dry is when I've tried to stuff a few towels, jeans, shirts, socks (I get creative with hanging!), etc after a heavier than normal wash load. Just because the thing can *hold* a lot doesn't mean it'll dry more than it says it can. it's not meant to dry comforters. b) it is actually kind of loud, which is why I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars. My neighbors have never said anything, but it's loud enough to me to make me feel guilty about running it at odd hours when people may be sleeping. that being said, holy calzones it works when used right! I dried a couple of oxford shirts and jeans, pillow cases and some socks and stuff in 45 minutes. The shirts DID NOT NEED IRONING after (I shook them before putting them in, as another reviewer recommended). That needed to be capitalized because I hate ironing. Last thing: I kept a dozen or so of those wire hangers you get back from the dry cleaners since the machine gets hot (as it's supposed to) and I'm afraid it'll warp my sturdy plastic hangers, but I'm probably being paranoid.

I gave this product a three only because it takes a really long time to dry but baby once it gets hot...its all uphill from there...lol..it holds a nice amount of laundry and if you need some extra heat in the house trust me this will heat a large room nicely..it has a stand where you hang the clothes on and at the bottom is the heating unit..then once you have put all the clothes you want to dry on the stand you then put the insulating bag over the clothes and the stand for the desired amount of time, zip it up and that's it...for lighter clothes one cycle of 120 or a little less will probably be more than sufficient but for heavier clothes you may need to do 2 cycles of 120 minutes to get everything dry..its important to shake the clothes good before placing them on hangers and putting in dryer..it will save you on ironing trust me..the best thing you can do for yourself is to purchase a spin dryer along with this...its a necessity, not an option trust me it makes things a million times easier...you don't need a huge space for this but you do need a nice size space..all in all its a good product if you don't need something dried right away..the clothes do come out good but it does not take the wrinkles out of clothes..shaking the clothes out good first will help with that...

I bought this dryer as I wanted to have something at my own apartment to dry my baby's clothes. This is a nice dryer and it takes longer than I expect, around 160min to dry everything but it does not damage or shrink the clothes. The room can get a bit warm when it is working. But overall I am happy with it.

I use this dryer with my wonder wash and spin dryer, i was really scared to buy this because i didnt think it would work good, but i had to try it.. OMG it is amazing, i cant believe how fast it works, how hot it gets, and how portable it is. im 5'2 and it is taller then me. It hold ALOT of clothes and works great.

Would recommend wringing out clothes or using a spin dryer. This dryer gets HOT so i use it in a bedroom and shut the door so the heat wont escape everywhere since it is about summer time. It would be GREAT in the winter to keep warm and dry clothes.

When I opened it I noticed that the two burners are different from each other. The burner on the left is labeled as COOK/BOIL and the right-hand burner is labeled REHEAT/SIMMER.

This unit (better chef buffet dual burner) for the price is an ok item. It will not boil water over 4 quarts a cup of water boils nicely. One problem I have with this item when you flip the switch both burners are on no matter how low you set the dial. It is not a huge deal but make sure you dont put your hand down on it thinking it was off.

This is the third brand of double burner that I purchased, and they all have the same problem. They work fine until a pot of water boils over. The water runs down inside the case and you get a big flash and a cloud of smoke, and shorted out fried electrics. Even the "flat plate" types have his problem. Can't use induction types because the pots and pans are stainless or other non-magnetic materials. I'd love to see someone make an affordable two burner portable ceramic cooktop. Until then, I'll keep buying cheap single burners and consider them to be disposable.

It works, but has some serious design flaws. First, the heating elements are not solidly stable, so that they may tilt or unseat. If they become unseated when they are hot, you have to jiggle them back with an oven mitt or something. Second, there is only one on-off switch. This means that when the unit is turned on, both burners are on. Even if you turn one you aren't using down to MIN, it is still warm. If you forget and leave it higher, it's dangerous. Would it have been so hard to put two switches on the thing?

I had been considering purchase of this piece for several months and had been monitoring pricing on Amazon and two other sites. One of my hesitations was the fact that there were NO reviews on any site.

I finally pulled the trigger and I'm basically happy that I purchased it... it is a beautiful piece. It is taller than the average TV stand (which is what I wanted) and the corner configuration reduces the footprint nicely.

The assembly of this product was intimidating but the instructions were clear and concise. I had no trouble assembling though I had a friend helping me which is crucial due to the heavy weight of the product. Once assembled, I was thrilled. Very attractive piece and the finish is perfect. Unfortunately, that is not where the story ends. My friend left and I needed to take down the old set up, push the new stand into place and re-assemble the entertainment complex... simple, right? Well, when I went to move the St Croix stand 4 feet into position, the back legs collapsed! Not one of them... BOTH of them.

Granted, I was sliding it across carpeting but for such a short distance, I expected no problem. Upon examination, it is clear that the manufactured wood the legs screwed into had disintegrated. The legs came out receiving anchor and all. Since it is the back legs and will not be visible... AND the piece slides into a corner, I put it in place without the legs, using the walls to rest against and some old magazines to level it. Not optimal, but I had just spent 90+ minutes assembling and I was NOT going to disassemble to return it. BOTTOM LINE: I would recommend this piece but I would put two pieces of smooth cardboard under the back legs to facilitate sliding the piece into position.

AGAIN Beautiful once assembled... assembly is fairly easy (with 2+ people recommended) and I'm basically happy now that it's done and in position.

I live in an older home that can be very drafty, this makes the winters pretty cold. our heater just wasn't cutting it and I was tired of cold toes, so I decided to purchase 2 of these heaters for the basement and the master bedroom. I got them after lots of research online. I didn't want to increase my utility bill much (lower if possible) and wanted something that would be safe and easy to use, also be able to maintain a consistent temperature. I chose this model because of its multiple power settings as well as it thermometer control, and after a lot of digging I found a good sale online. Once they arrived I set them up in a garage and did the "burn off" (turning the unit up to full power to burn off any residue left over) as directed. I left them running longer than was recommended (about 4 hours when 2 to 3 is recommended) due to the wonderful smell they were putting off I didn't want any of that in my bed room. after the smell started to dissipate I set them up in the targeted rooms and started off high thinking I was going to need a lot of heat to get the room to warm up, to my surprise I didn't, in a few hours the room was far to hot and I had to start turning it down to figure out the comfortable range. turns out I only needed the lowest setting to maintain a comfortable temperature in my room, the basement need the medium but neither needed the highest. after days of using these I noticed my furnace kicking on much less and the temperature being consistent. they warm up a pretty larger area than expected. the only reason I wouldn't give a 5 star is they don't heat up fast, they aren't great for places that need heat quick but are great for places that need consistent heat. over all a great product, we will see how the power bill fares.

These are great little room heaters. We actually get cold here in Hawaii when we hit the damp rainy season and this takes the chill and moisture out. I used these in the mountains of NC too (over 3000 feet)and they are great--because once you get it hot, put it on lower settings and it maintains and uses less power. (Hawaii has the highest electric bills in the USA) It is enclosed and safe too. If you have children please be careful as THEY DO GET HOT! The coils get hot to the touch, enough to burn a child. Use common sense and place away from kids. My dog never sniffed and got a burned nose, so I think pets are smart enough to not nose the coils. Good buy.

We bought this for a medium-size bedroom. My wife is a light sleeper and we needed a silent runner. This fits the bill perfectly doesn't make a sound. Has thermostat setting, and 3 different heat output settings. With temps near zero here in NY I set this on the high output (1500 watt) setting at medium cool thermostat position. Wall thermostat in room at 9PM showed temp at 48 degrees. When we bedded down about midnight the temp had risen to 63. Because it has no fan and makes no noise you wonder if it is going to do the job but it does. Great heater. We also own the 715T which is a little bit more deluxe looking and has a 24-hour infinite settings timer. This unit also does and excellent job and over the long run the timer will probably pay for the price difference.

i had a delonghi heater 30 years ago and it worked perfectly. I never worried about it. I gave it to my mom and she used it in her apartment for a decade. The insert was easy to set up and is the most realistic I have ever seen. We have had others, but this is the best. We first ordered from Amazon and Plumstruck was the seller. We received a FDX delivery of the product wrapped in pieces of boxes taped together. When we opened it, the item was smashed and dented on both sides, the glass insert and remote control were missing and paint was scraped off. Plumstruck immediately arranged for FDX to return it after we called them, but I had a problem getting my refund. After numerous emails to Plumstruck and Amazon I had to filed a dispute with my credit card company.

I later ordered the item from QSN Fireplaces. The care they take in the delivery process made all the difference. I am told that these are very delicate and need special handling with delivery.

This screen fits our old Rumsford Fireplace opening perfectly, and the spark guard at the top makes us all feel more secure by blocking shooting sparks. The screen is well made, it feels substantial, but not too heavy to move or tilt to add logs. One thing we really like is the unobscured view of the firethe screen is not divided in the middle and so we can really view the fire almost like there is no screen there! Much nicer than our three section screen with heavy wrought iron welds in the middle that this replaced!

The screen itself is nice and fits well but the handle didn't fit. The holes on one of the sides were too close together and the hardware wouldn't fit. That makes it go from a 4 to a 2.

This set from Enclume is attractive and well made, however you don't receive what is shown in the photo. The tongs in the photo are a 3 prong style, made of square stock, just like the other tools. Enclume now ships a cheaper, 2 prong tool that is less effective at grasping logs. The new tongs are also made of flat stock and don't exactly match the other tools in the set. Enclume does not make a disclaimer about the tongs, even on their own website. "Tongs is tongs" was the explanation given me by the reseller.

Whether you are buying the set for appearance, functionality or both, you may be disappointed with what you receive.

We have a gas fireplace that sits on the floor and wanted to block our son from touching the glass this winter without having something that he could stick his hands through or that looked too distracting. I love the look of this piece, simple but still decorative. However, it did not seem worth the expensive price tag. It would move on the 12" of tile in front of our fireplace with just a slight nudge. Not good for a toddler that runs around and throws his toys. We were going to send back the screen but decided to try adding some soft plastic "feet" to the bottom. This has solved the problem perfectly and the little feet are not even noticeable. Now it takes a strong nudge for it to move. Just have to watch that you don't push on the mesh too hard.

This is a simple, affordable, wellmade firescreen. It is lighter weight than some. But we use it in front of a stone fireplace that is elevated about 16 inches above the floor. There is little chance of accidentally bumping into it, so the lighter weight is not a problem. The mesh design is well-constructed to keep stray embers inside the fireplace, and we are quite satisfied with the functionality of this product..

This is a large fireplace screen that would be unusable if it weighed what it look like it might. I also have a fireplace that is above floor level and the screen's reasonably light weight makes taking it down and putting it up not chore. Also, its high wings (same height as the centerpiece) guard well against popping embers. Attractive look as well

It's made in china and there's no manufacturer information. So many components are farmed out in China-manufactured goods, I always wonder about quality control.

We bought ours on sale last April and didn't use it through the summer. We've only been using it 2 weeks and it works really well. It heats our master bedroom easily and without any noise whatsoever. Can't tell you about how much electricity it uses, haven't really got a bill yet that reflects its usage.

We're using it instead of our central gas heater. Why heat the whole house when we sleep in just one room?

So far I've got no regrets. It's proving to be a competent little unit.

Don't buy it. The claims are all false. It will not heat 1500 square feet. It will not cost $1 a day. In running it 8 hours a day, my electricity bill went up $100 dollars for the month. To cost this unit at $500 is ridiculous. I bought the Silicon Scientific Model FH-1500 in March 2012 for $150. So the present price is not a today only price. This unit would be good for warming your feet for a short while but that is about it. I bought a little unit from Wal-Mart for under $100 and it works just as well.
