Works well in a small room. Not too loud, albiet not silent! Teenage daughter uses it in her bed room & bathroom (yeah, you're not supposed to use it in a bathroom....standard admonishment from all space heater manufacturers).

I just received my heater and plugged it in. The heating coils turned on but then smoke started coming out of the unit and the fan wasn't coming on but instead it was making an awful humming noise. It is a shame since I love this style of heater, guess I will have to go find a better brand.Read Best Reviews of Homebasix LH872 750/1500-Watt Mini Milkhouse Heater Here
I bought one of these heaters more than 10 years ago from I don't remember where. It cost less than $20 back then. It is still going strong, never have had a problem with it.
They might make them with less quality now; I don't know. I've used it mostly in my small
bathroom to keep the steam off the mirror while taking hot showers during the winter and it
worked adequately for that. For the past few years I've had it in my 19' travel
trailer with a slide-out while in campgrounds with power hook-ups so I don't
have to use propane for the gas furnace. I leave it on all night on the 750w setting
and it keeps the trailer interior above 70F when it's in the 40's outside. If this
heater ever stopped working I would probably buy another one.

We used to be able to buy the smaller milkhouse versions of heaters at Walmart and elsewhere, but they have become harder to find. We haven't wanted to go with the higher wattage ones, since we never use the highest wattage, so I was happy to find this one. This particular one that we bought doesn't seem to even turn on when put at the lower end of the controls, however, so I just put it closer to the halfway point and it does OK. The one we just bought is in a little used very small bedroom with a half bath, and we wanted to make sure the pipes don't freeze in the winter, plus if a guest comes it can become as toasty warm as they like.
