I purchased both the cream colored and the white colored version of this product (Intermatic FD15MWC 15-Minute Spring Loaded Wall Timer, White). Oddly, while both versions come from Amazon.com, the cream colored version costs a bit more even though it is identical excepting the color of the plastic. I have a more extensive review for the white version (with installation hints) so I won't repeat it here. Suffice it to say, this is a 5-star solution for getting your bathroom vent fan to run for a timed period, then shut off. A spring powered device may be low tech, but it would take a rather elaborate (and expensive) solid state device to outperform this one.

Perfect for bathroom fans and bathroom heaters. Perfect for rental units where the landlord pays the bills. Perfect for bathrooms where the significant other forgets to turn off the heater/light/fan after they're done. The spring holds up better than other similar models. I had a cheap off-brand that went out after 3 years, it's just stuck in the on-position. That's why I get these now. They are basically the standard.

I bought the mechanical 15 minute timer because I wanted to control a 12-volt application. Unlike many of the digital wall timers out now, this one does not require 120V to operate. Works perfectly. Not much else to say!

We searched everywhere locally and couldn't find a timer shorter than 60 minutes. I searched here and found this, in the right color for our walls as well. Installed quickly and it works beautifully with the shortest timer we could find: 15 min. We're very happy with it.
