They're just rocks--nothing fancy. But they adequately serve the purpose of decorating the ground of a fireplace. Their rough edges do collect dust over time and they'll need to be periodically washed or replaced.

This was perfect for our fireplace I combined this was Hargrove Gas Rock Wool and then also added Platinum Bright embers on top. Looks beautiful.

Replaced the embers in my gas insert with these and am very pleased. The lava rocks stay in place when the fireplace is lit unlike the embers did. Will buy again when need be.
