I wanted a fireplace screen that was freestanding, weighs enough so it won't slide much when bumped into by a pet or small child, had a mesh screen, not just the bars and was attractive. That's exactly what I got in this product. From a distance and depending on how the light hits it, the color is somewhat of a blend of black with a subtle goldentone to it. Very nice and at a reasonable price.

We received ours and are very pleased with the quality. Our fireplace opening is 30" high and 36" wide and it fits perfectly. It arrived earlier than expected which was anice surprise. It was in excellent condition and is really sturdy. Weighs about 14 pounds. Has a subtle brass tone to it, but looks black at a distance.Buy 15917 3 Panel Scroll Top Screen Now
PROS:Looks good. Does not look cheap.
Performs well to hold back the flying pieces.
CONS:
The 2 side panels have to be at an abolutely perfect angle to stand up. Depending on the width opening of your fireplace, this may leave a large gap on top between the wall of the fireplace and the top of this screen.
It flattens and falls at the slightest brush up against it. If my dog's leg taps it lightly as he is rolling around in front of it, the entire screen will fall on him.
I will not recommend this product around toddlers and pets, ESPECIALLY if the screen is warm. It is OK if children are old enough to understand to not touch it.
The screen itself is heavy. I am yet to understand why it loses its balance so easily at the slightest tap at it. May be having a thicker base on the center panel will not make it so susceptible to losing it's balance so quickly. Or make the hinges tighter so the side panels won't collapse so easily, creating a domino affect of collapsing the entire screen on a child or a pet.

We bought this to go in front of our first fireplace, mostly to keep the cat from going in the fireplace. It is simple with just enough decoration to look more expensive than it is. Feels sturdy. Haven't used it with a fire yet, but so far we really like it.We bought this screen to prevent our young child from crawling over to our fireplace and making a snack of the gravel inside. It has done a great job of doing just that while also looking good. The only criticism I have is that there is no way to lock the two sides. As our son would push it against the mantle and it would begin to flatten out and threaten to topple backwards. Just a warning to those with similar thoughts.
