This fireplace screen arrived promptly and came out of the box ready to go. No assembly of any kind was needed. It is a darkish gray finish and the pattern that you see in the picture. One side is a heavy mesh screen and the other side has the bended metal design. It's heavy and seems substantial. The measurements given for the height are a little misleading. Because the top is arched the height varies from 26" at the corners to 31" at the top of the arch. Since my fireplace opening is 31" tall there are a couple of inches of open space at either corner where the screen doesn't come all the way up. The width is as described. I haven't used it with a fire yet so can't comment on how it protects against sparks but it certainly looks serviceable.Love it, love it, love it. It's a million times better than the cheap-o screens at the big box stores. It's expensive, but arrived safely and looks/works great.
