Perfect if you need a basic on/off control. We found that we never used the thermostat features and other features of the remote that came with the fireplace. When it stopped working (due to a leaking battery), this seemed to be and is a cost-effective solutions that meets our needs. It was very easy to install.

This kit works great and even comes with a nice wall plate should you want to go that route.

As with any battery operated device, pull your batteries out in the summer. The reason I had to replace mine is because I forgot the batteries in the unit and they corroded which in turn damaged the unit. Obviously, this is not the fault of the product, but the owner. :) I am happy with this product and like that the remote is RF and not IR.
