Grill is well built, but had made in Taiwan sticker on it. Cut out is not 12x14 more like 10x12 (not exact, has to be measured). 12x14 is edge to edge, not air opening. Does not have a full recessed edge that drops into hole. On each of the four corners it has about 1/2" edging to keep it from floating around and lines it up. Very pleased.

Ordered these to replace 4 of the ugliest vent covers on my fireplace (I didn't put the UGLY ones up-they were there when we bought the house).. I've searched the webno avail then I found these on AMAZONand they are perfect!!!! They are HEAVY (castiron-duh) but well worth it!
