I bought this fireplace to use outside on my pool patio. We had a chiminea out there, but it made so much smoke and I couldn't enjoy the ambiance of the fire because of the smoke blowing in the face. I bought this and a case of the gel cans which produce no smoke at all!. It was easy to hang. We used it many times in the cooler months and it was awesome. It is really for someone who just wants the effect of a fire burning. It does not really produce much heat. Very romantic for the evening hours. It's very light and quite easy to install. I would suggest that you place a strip of masking tape on the back to trace out the mounting holes. remove the masking tape and place on the wall , then just drill through the tape. The manufacturer's description "copper finish" and photos led me to believe it was copper color. It isn't. It has no shine and is a dull bronze shade of painted steel. I bought it at a retailer with an "O", returned it, and wrote a negative review, but they must censor reviews as it was never published by them. I can see Amazon publishes negative reviews and I thought this was a way to get the word out. The good news is I bought the stainless steel version instead and it is beautiful and much more solidly constructed.

I live in a 1600 ft. Twin house. While it did not heat the entire house, with a few smaller space heaters I did NOT buy oil this year! My electric bill was about $100.00 more a month but that's a lot better than forking out $500 to $600 at a time. After waiting for another Duraflame model that was on backorder, I decided to substitute with this model. I am in a New York studio apartment & this year the heat was cut back a bit, and because of the excessively cold weather, needed to supplement the heat. This heater works perfectly. Gives a gently warming and comfortable heat without blasting hot air and heats up my 12 X 26 studio really quickly...now no more shivering at night and in the late afternoon when the sun starts to go down. Also, the cabinet is very well made. I have purchased two of these items from Sam's club. Both items had problems with the fan making a loud noise. When I disassembled the units, I noticed the bearings in the fan are very cheap. I will not be buying another.

I ordered several different hot plate single burner cookers to see which one I liked best, and this one won. It's sturdy and heavy.. and unlike all the others, it can be CLEANED....which greatly prolongs its life..Impossible to clean the others... so they get tossed after a few months. We saw this in a museum shop in Pittsburgh (for about 25% more!). It is exquisite as a piece of art on our glass coffee table in our living room. Ours came with a funnel and says to fill it 2/3 (or maybe 3/4) full but there seems to be no markings on the fuel-holder thing so I've learned to use a full 8oz. measuring cupful and that works perfectly for us. It gives several hours of lovely ambiance and romantic atmosphere before we go in to dinner. I'm messy and spill a bit. Be sure to wipe up any excess spilled fuel before you light it (with a long match or a long lighter). Buy it. Yes I was happy with my irradia tabletop fireplace. After the hurricane I realized I wanted small fireplace for my bedroom, I have one like this that's wall-mounted in my living room that kept me warm during the storm. Not exactly what I thought it would be but it's nice. They should think of adding a filler funnel with the item because you need it to put fuel in it. When you light it and only a small amount of fuel remain you get a woosh... of flame, must be from fumes in the trough. I am a very picky decorator and I would prefer a real fireplace, but after hearing my hubby gripe about gas prices and only turning on my gas fireplace for special occasions, I looked for an inexpensive option, and this was perfect. Honestly, with a little doctoring it looks great. I already had a decorative screen and log rack, which really adds to the effect. I also added a small piece of wood across the lit window in the front so it did not look like a perfect rectangle of orange light, which also looks great. I read on another site that some people hid a mirror (or piece of foil) behind the flame to enhance the glow (I haven't tried that, but it might add to the glow effect). The turn on switch is in an odd place, so we plugged it into one of those add in plugs that can be turned on right at the plug or by remote, which is great. The "crackling" sound is a bit odd, but hardly noticeable really. If you play with the piece of metal by bending it, it almost sounds like a true crackle. This was surprisingly nice electric fire log. They use real wood in the construction, so it actually looks pretty good -maybe not so much when you take it out of the box and sit it on the table, but when it's in your fireplace it looks rather realistic. Turning it on only enhances that realistic appearance even more -it really does look like a glowing, crackling fire, and unless you point out that it's fake, most people would probably not give it a second glance . They'd just think you had a nice fire going. You can increase or decrease the "crackling" noise of the "fire" by bending the metal shield in the back in/out. I loved this little crackling fire at first. It looked great in my vintage, acorn fireplace. However, after only two weeks the motor has gone. Now it is so annoyingly loud I can't even turn it on. It first started making excessive noise after only one week. I found by positioning it differently it became quiet again but only for a short time. I live in Ontario, so shipping it back to Amazon for an exchange will cost me at least $25. and I don't think that it's worth it. I will most likely have to find some place to have it fixed. So sad.
