One review said they ordered two clocks and both arrived broken. I almost didn't order because of that review, but I'm glad I did as the clock arrived in perfect condition. It's beautiful and just what we wanted.

The clock arrived completely in pieces, broken glass everywhere. The seller immediately had a replacement sent and it arrived in the same shape; completely shattered. We tried a third time, hoping Sterling would ship it in better packaging, but the third one arrived in exactly the same condition. It was shipped with the same flimsy packaging each time which kind of blew my mind. They blamed UPS but that was not the problem. When you ship something with glass, it should have extra cushioning but this only had one layer of small bubble wrap and a thin piece of styrofoam each time. We all know the delivery companies are rough on packages so I don't blame them.

I was very disappointed, as the clock would have been beautiful if not broken.

The seller was great to work with, responded immediately and apologized. I would buy from them again, but never a Sterling product.

I spent quite a while reviewing different fireplaces from different vendors. When I saw this one I fell in love with it. The "shipment" status stated about a week to 3 weeks for delivery so, I was very impressed when it arrived in less then a week. The instructions for putting it together were very specific and all the "holes and notches" fit perfectly. For the price the product is more then worth buying. Thank you, Kim

I let my neighbor borrow it for the day before I had a chance to use it, but didn't get it back! They kept it for two weeks. I finally decided to BBQ some steaks this weekend and asked for my FiAir back. They are usually very good at returning items borrowed. To my surprise she was reluctant in returning it to me. She absolutely loves it and had used it several times. She is going to order three of them but I have to leave mine in the enclosure so she can have access to it till hers arrive.

Wow! Use it on my steaks and love it!!!

I used to use a hair dryer for fire starting but that was dangerous and no use on a picnic away from electrical outlets. Hooray for FiAir. It works great and turned a tedious chore into fun. Totally recommend buying it if you use charcoal or have a fireplace.

I received FiAir as a gift from friends who have watched me struggle to get (and keep) charcoal fires going in my grill. WOW! What a difference. I use Weber cubes as kindling and once I lit those little guys and aimed FiAir at them my coals were blazing in no time. (Usually the cubes burn great and the charcoal just sits there!) I probably used FiAir more than necessary cause it was so cool to point and shoot to spread the flames. We were ready to cook in 9 1/2 minutes. (My skeptical partner timed it.) We will probably get more to throw in with our camping gear, and most certainly 1--2 as gifts! Neat product!

This is a reliable space heater that puts out a fair amount of heat. The thermostat controls work (more or less) like any other heater -whatever you select, when the temperature around the heater reaches that level, the unit shuts off. As long as you don't expect it to correctly monitor room temperature, you're fine. We have had ours for a couple of years now and after about 18 mos the oscillating gears started falling apart, making clicking noises and leaving little pieces of plastic behind. It is still usable but not with oscillation. It is also noisy (loud fan) and is only used by us as a backup heater when other options are not available (ie one of our radiant flat panels died).

This product does what it says it does. Our stove use to belch smoke whenever the door was opened. We have almost 20 ft of chimney and unless we have a blazing fire, the weight of the cold air in the chimney pushes the smoke back into the house. It is also difficult for us to keep a small fire going. This little jewel solves both the problems. I just turn it on a minute or so before opening the door and have virtually no smoke escape. Running it on low speed helps keep a small fire going even when the damper and feed air are turned down.

An added benefit is that we can burn wet wood. If we can get even the smallest fire going, running the fan helps move air through the fire box, drying the wet wood and allowing it to catch.

But a word of warning. Throw away the installation instructions, especially the template. It's almost as though they intentionally drew it incorrectly. I took my unit apart so that I could use the housing as a template and things turned out pretty well. If you have to mount it close to the stove's surface (as I did) be sure to use rigid or flexible metal conduit for the wiring.

Another gripe is, why did they put the motor control box on the bottom side, closest to the surface of the stove? Maybe it is to help protect the motor, but it can get pretty hot if mounted close to the stove. We have a room fan blowing across our stove to help move the heat into other parts of the house, so the box and motor stay pretty cool. But with the room fan off, the box can get too hot to touch.

The quick review is it does improve the draft; it does eliminate the smoke exiting the stove when the door is opened; it will improve the burning; it does not compensate for a poor chimney or piping installation; it is not an easy install; the instructions are poor; you need some tools and some ability to work with metal; and I can find no reason not to buy it based on my longer review. I've used it now for several weeks and I'm a happy camper but reading the full review may be helpful.

The pic shown for this item is incorrect. For the review to make sense you need to see the piece which fits into the pipe and it's not shown in the pic. The square flange should be seen on the top of the unit as shown so please check my pic before reading on.

I gave the Auto-Draft 5 stars solely for what it can do to remove smoke and that's what I purchased it to do. However, I'd have to give it 3 stars for what you have to do to get it to work properly; the design flaws you must overcome; and the overall lack of design quality that will make it the problem after installation if you're not handy and able to overcome the issues. I do cover them further in my review but, in summary, you will have holes the unit does not fill so there's a natural draft that let's smoke escape; you can't properly fit a flat piece of metal against a curved pipe; the motor does get very hot; and the control switch is all plastic that's near a very hot source of heat. It is not meant to overcome a poor, or inadequate, chimney system but if you have trouble getting a proper draft and/or have smoke issues this was the best and most cost effective remedy I could find.

At the time I posted this review there were only two others. One was good and the other useless because it talked about the "shopping experience" without ever mentioning whom they purchased it from, why they had to contact customer service, if they installed it and did it work. This is not something you purchase unless you have a problem and before doing so you should want to know as much as you can before you proceed so what follows is probably way more than you want to know but if it helps one person install it easier or think of other options I think that's what the review process is all about.

I purchased this directly from Northern Tool on their Website because the shipping was less (it was under ten dollars); the item price was the same as on their Amazon listing; shipping was 2nd day UPS Air which was the same price as standard shipping; they offered a ten dollar gift card; and all this ended up as the equivalent of free shipping. The day after I ordered it the price went up by twenty dollars... though that's still less than other places.

It's cold here on the high desert and there's not much to do in the winter except try to stay warm. Friday nights are for watching a fire, listening to some loud music and downing some libation. We sit in front of a fireplace with a roaring fire and freeze our butts off and have to get up a lot to throw on another log. Fireplaces cause a huge draft and put a lot of heat up the chimney. Meanwhile, in the next room, there's a perfectly good vintage Blaze King (BK) wood stove that cranks out some heat but does not have a glass door for fire viewing. The BK manual states you can remove the door, add a screen over the opening and convert it to an open fire. We tried that but smoke was a huge issue even after heating the stove up for an hour before removing the door. It wasn't just the smoke it was also the black soot that was collecting on everything from the windows to the ceiling. If you can't isolate the room your stove is in then the adjacent rooms form a draft... because they're colder than the room the stove is in... and will draw the smoke in and up to the ceiling until the room fills with it. Seemed like a lost cause and it was back to the drafty fireplace. Adding a glass door would be easier but they're hard to find for a vintage stove and since the stove is in excellent condition replacing it was not an option at several thousand dollars. Then I can across this item in some searches on smoke issues and, for the price, it was worth a shot because I knew I did not have any chimney blockage or defective installation.

After a half-day to install it did work and the smoke issue was gone. The install was not easy, which I expected, and some remedial work was done to ensure it was properly sealed. I have discovered that the way a wood stove works with the door open and with the door closed are very different. I now have the ability to watch a roaring fire while getting lots of heat and no smoke. The good folks at BK are wrong in how easy it is to convert your stove from a closed unit to an open fire but this device did it. There are some flaws with it that, if not addressed, will make it tough to go back to a closed fire. I wanted my stove to also function with the door closed so I could also heat the house when I didn't want to be in the room and not have to feed it logs constantly. Yes, an open door fire burns logs much faster than when it's closed. With a closed door I can get through the night on half dozen logs because it burns longer and not hotter. The BK was not properly installed when we purchased the house and I had venting issues so over the summer I did a complete rebuild from the stove through the wall and into the chimney. It's still not prefect but it's the best it'll ever be and this unit made it so.

With the door closed I do not have a draft problem. You can prevent most of the smoke from escaping by opening the door just a crack to let some air in to "liven up" the fire. It only takes it a few seconds to liven up and when you can see the flames, add another log and close it back up again. The natural burn process in a closed stove is slow and smoldering so when you quickly open the door all the way there's a rush of air to the fire; the burn process accelerates quickly; a lot of smoke is generated; and it all comes out the door because that's the path of least resistance.

I have lots of tools and over 50 years of experience using them and I found this install tough. It appears to me that the company has modified one of their existing items, the DJ-3 In-Line Draft Inducer made for furnace venting problems, by painting it black and calling it the answer to wood stove draft problems. That doesn't quite work when you open the box, read the vague half page of instructions and start scratching your head. Here's a list of what I found to be issues:

1. The instructions are poor and once the rectangular hole has been cut into the pipe the unit is incapable of completely sealing the hole.

2. It installs best on a vertical pipe. Anything less than vertical just increases the problems of install and operation.

3. If you're installing it on a horizontal or sloped pipe you can't put it on top because the heat will destroy it and you can't put it on the bottom because it'll fill with creosote and it would also be as far away from the smoke you're trying to eject. That leaves either the left or the right side of the pipe as you're facing the flow of air to the chimney.

4. If you put it on the right hand side, like I did (see pics), the instructions on the switch cover are upside down.

5. Nothing fits the same in an 8" pipe as it does in a smaller one. The smaller the pipe the more issues you'll have installing it.

6. The 3" flat piece at one end must slip into the pipe pointing toward the chimney and the two longer side pieces mount to the outside of the pipe.

7. The flat piece is exactly that, flat, so since the stove pipe that's going into is curved it leaves a gap.

8. The flat end is also squared off so you can't get an airtight, or even close, connection at the two corners.

9. There is a strip of gasket tape but there's nothing in the instructions of where to use it so it's your best guess.

10. There are several warnings about getting it too close to the heat source but the control switch, stem and interior portion are all plastic, the entire switch assembly looks like a cheap plastic toy.

11. The instructions state you should remove this every year and clean it... no way!

12. It is very hard to get a clean, straight and accurate cut in stove pipe while it's attached to the stove.

13. The clips that are provided to hold it in place are weak type of connection and if you tighten a screw a little too much they will strip.

14. You must do some more work to seal the gaps or it'll just suck smoke from the stove and spit it back out into the room a feet further up the pipe.

15. The motor does get very hot, too hot to touch, and that will likely be a cause for future concern. Having a fan on it probably is a good idea to help keep it cool.

16. The fan blades are metal attached to a metal shaft that goes directly into the motor so the heat of the stove gasses conducts directly to the motor. There should be some insulator on the shaft to prevent it.

17. The motor assembly is on a steel plate and bolted to the housing with three mounting stems so it faces the stove. This could easily have been designed to allow you to move the motor to one of three position but they didn't do it so you're stuck with what they give you unless you're into modifying it.

Some hints on the install...

1. One review complained about the template but it worked for me on an 8" pipe. Since the template is made for a curved pipe it is likely oversized if you're using it on a smaller pipe.

2. It really doesn't need to run constantly... in most cases. Once the pipe and chimney heat up it should create a natural, or at least better, draft. The abundance of smoke that you get off a fresh log being added is in the first few minutes of burning. To make life easier, I added a remote controlled outlet so I can add a log, sit down and then turn off the fan when the smoke ceases.

3. Cutting pipe that is in place is not easy. I used an abrasive cutoff wheel that was very thin and though I have a 4" tile saw you can mount discs on a drill. You can also use a saber saw with a fine tooth metal blade or drill a few holes and go at it with a sheet metal cutter will also work. The best way is to remove the pipe, cut it and then reinstall. Not all stoves have the correct pipe: which is 24 gauge thick. If yours is thinner then cutting it with a saw blade will cause bends and it's harder to cut a straight line.

4. You can also avoid using this unit if you want to install an exhaust through-the-wall fan to the outside near and above the stove to pull the smoke out. However, a decent size fan will cost more than this unit, require a lot of work and need some electrical wiring to it.... you can't use a simple little bath fan. Lastly, you're still dealing with smoke in your face and room and you're sucking heat out.

5. I bought some extra wood stove gasket; placed it over the gaps I had on the top leading to the chimney; cut a piece of metal off the piece from the opening I cut out; and screwed it over the seal to stop the leaking with some self-tapping black stove screws. I will touch up everything up with a little spray paint and I'm done till the spring.

6. This unit weighs a few pounds so add at least three screws to every pipe joint to get a tighter hold or your pipe may not support it properly.

7. This will only mount in single wall pipe.

8. I mounted mine directly on the side but it should be lower and I'll correct that later.

9. I am adding a small fan to blow on the motor but letting an electric motor get so hot will cause it to fail and replacing it will be as much as the original cost of the entire unit.

10. You do not need armored cable or conduit for the electrical connection because they will also conduct heat to the unit. A solid rubber cord cable is good but I just cut the female end off an old computer cable and it works fine. You do need a three prong plug.

In closing, if you're installing it on a vertical pipe most of the above won't be much of a concern. I did a good job, all things considered, in installing it but I will remove it in the spring; bend some of the metal flanges more; round off the square edges; install it in a new piece of pipe while it's on my bench; drill the side panels and install with about 4 self tapping screws on each side; seal it with some thicker braided gasket tape; redo the motor bracket so I can point it away from the stove; cut the drive shaft and add an insulator to keep some of the heat from transferring to the motor; remove the old pipe; and then install it on the stove for next season because I'm not happy with what I now have... even though it eliminated my smoke problem. This all may seem pretty anal retentive but I can't see a reason to not do it correctly and not feel safe going to bed with a fire burning.

Easy install I had a prob with smoke back draft comming in to my green house after I built my rocket stove this seems to have solved the problem that said this was in summer months so I haven't been able to test it in winter where cold air could possibly change the dynamics of the air flow I will keep my fingers crossed

Our woodstove 'chimney' has had venting / draft problems for years. We were not sure what was causing it and decided to install a new woodstove to see if it was the unit itself causing the issues. After I installed the new woodstove, the draft problems persisted.

The draft problems were occasional and apparently associated with a cold chimney (and the relatively heavy, cold air).

I ordered this inline fan to help in getting the draft started to avoid a backdraft (and smoke in the house). It works wonderfully.

The only issue with this fan is the difficulty with installation.

I would only recommend this fan to someone with the tools and expertise to accurately cut and drill sheet metal (or access to someone who does). Based on others' reviews, I did not even look at the included instructions, but instead took some measurements and proceeded to cut the metal and install the fan.

Really a great tool for the price.

The wheels aren't the best, but better than most Chinese stuff.

You can get replacement wheels from Dorian or other "premium" brands for a fair price and then yoou have a superb tool for the hobbyist.

If you're knurling hard steel on a small lathe that can't take the pressure on the headstock, get a "Scissor" knurler instead. Costs more but doesn't beat up yoour machine and destroy your bearings.

I needed a small grate for my very small wood stove and this was the smallest that I could find. I found it to be almost perfectly what I wanted surprisingly so. It is much sturdier than I expected so I anticipate it's lasting as long as I do. I needed a way to keep logs from too easily coming out of the stove when refueling it and it does that as well or better than I could have expected. The only thing about the grate that posed a slight problem was its height. While being quite functional as it was, the height limited the firebox more than I wanted. An angle grinder with a cutoff wheel made short work of shortening the legs and now it's perfect!

I bought the door to replace the original door on my chimney.

After 35 years, it was rusted beyond service.

The new door is simple sheet metal punched to size.

It's not very heavy. It will work good, but it won't last 35 years.

I painted mine with a black wrinkle finish to make it look like the original cast iron door.

My main complaint is the mounting holes are under the door.

They aren't counter sunk to allow a flat head screw secure to it without bowing the door.

I'll probably press countersinks with my vice or drill new mounting holes outside the door perimeter.

When looking for small wien coolers, I was scared of getting a so bad one because while looking for cheap and small wine cooler I've seen that there are many reviews saying that the one they bought makes a lot of noise, broke down or something else... After making some research I decided to get this wine cooler, and I ought to say that I'm happy to have chosen this one. It doesn't makes noise at all. It keeps the wine at the temperature I chose as it is supposed to do. It's got a light inside so you can see the wine if you like to. You may like also to leave the light turned on because it looks cool at night. Also, I've got the Prime Membership, so I got the two days shipping for free. If you don't have the Membership, don't worry Amazon always send the product on time.

Since I've seen so many people saying that the Wine Cooler they got broke down, I will update the review if it happens to me. It's been a week since I bought it, and the cooler works perfectly.

The wine cooler stopped working on March 26, 2013. I send the wine cooler to the manufacturer, and they fixed it.

You read a lot of reviews of wine coolers being too loud or do not cool properly. This may be a direct result of people not reading directions. When you move a refrigerator of any kind the unit is supposed to be kept upright. The reason for this is because there is very thick lubricant (oil) in the compressor unit. If the refrigerator has been moved, stored, or delivered sideways the oil must be given time to drain back into the compressor properly. If your unit was just delivered to you and the box is upright then you have to assume that it could have been on the truck for several days. This means the oil is not in the correct position in the compressor to be turned on as soon as you bring it home. The box this unit was shipped in is large and will more than likely have to be put on its side to fit in your vehicle. The instructions with this unit clearly state not to turn the unit on for a few hours to allow the lubricant to settle properly. I allowed for three hours to pass before plugging the unit in. Additionally, my wine was in my regular refrigerator and already cold when I put them in this cooler. This takes the unit less work to get the temperature down. This unit is very quiet and is keeping the temperature steady. You can hear the fan but during a normal conversation or with the tv on you have to really listen for it. For the money, this is a very nice and attractive unit.

I just got this yesterday and set it to 57 and it works perfectly. I just purchased some reds and opened door stacked them in there, fit perfectly and the temp didn't budge. I had a cheap (1/2 priced) 6 bottle Emerson that worked well for 4 years, now it won't cool down, it is being affected my our Indian Summer heat, which it never mattered before how hot my place got. This new one looks soooo much better, very quiet, no complaints at all, so far. I will do another post if anything changes, but so far I love it. Btw, it is positioned exactly next to my old one. So the placment is the same, and staying at a cool 57! Exactly where I want it. It is about 68 in my condo right now.

Want Spt Thermo-Electric Wine Cooler with Heating, 12-Bottles Discount?

Have had it for a month or so with no issues. The light is a nice touch at night looking for a bottle.

Runs quietly and with 12 bottles in it keeps wine at 51 degrees (lowest setting) which is a great "chilled" temp.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at this model when it arrived over a year ago. I had room for bottles with the corks placed back in, in addition to having room for wine stoppers as well. It also remembered where the thermostat was set to in the event of a power outage. It would go back to the setting once power was restored.

HOWEVER...Unit died right after the 1 year mark. Doesn't it always happen that way?

Take it for what its worth.

I own two of these, one in a small bathroom, and one in a larger 9' X 9' bathroom.

The unit is compact; it has a plastic part that you fasten into the wall, and then the heater rotates sideways to fit into it, then back to vertical to lock in place.

The controls have a power button, a LOW button, a HIGH button, and several temperature settings. We don't use the temperature settings, so I won't comment on them here. The heater works great in both locations; the small bathroom uses low heat and the larger bathroom uses high heat.

One needs to be aware that when powering off the unit, you have to hold the button; the lights will change (clockwise), but the next time you power on the unit, the last setting you used will be set. In other words, if you have the unit on HIGH and you PRESS the power button, it will go to LOW heat. In the same situation if you HOLD the power button, the light will indicate LOW heat for a second before the unit turns off, but the next time you power up it will be in HIGH heat.

The unit has an overtemp circuit if it gets too hot it will shut down and it requires a lot of time to completely cool before it will allow a power up. We discovered this when we attempted HIGH heat in our smaller bathroom but now we save energy by using the LOW setting, so it was a good experience.

The unit also has an ALCI plug, which means that if you drop it in the tub or just generally get it wet, the unit will disconnect from the mains and is not hazardous the plug will simply blow it's circuit and the unit shuts down. This is perfect for bathrooms.

Excellent unit, great operation, nice design. Recommended.

I bought this heater last year for the guest bathroom thinking it was inexpensive, and small.

Now that it started getting cold again I could not find the bigger heater for my master bath, so I got this "little one". I mounted it on the wall (away from the bathtub and shower). It took all of one minute to mount it.

The thermostat setting is great because I leave the unit running all the time at 65 degrees, then bring it up to 70 in the morning. It only came on once or twice overnight, but the bathroom is not icy cold.

This is a compact, lightweight heater. Bought it on sale and its well worth the money. Very effective for small spaces. Heats up fast, thermostat works fine (so far!). Stable on the floor, can also be mounted on the wall.

Pros:

has thermostat you can set by 5 degree increments.

Cons:

turning the unit on and off is difficult

thermostat settings don't go low enough and have a useless high end

I have a Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater with Adjustable Thermostat, but the continuous thermostat doesn't have any degree markings. I thought I would try this Holmes heater that has settings for 60,65,70,75, and 80 degrees. I use this in an unheated attic that I use for office space when I work from home. I find myself wanting to turn the heater on or off several times a day, but there is NOT simple on/off switch. There are 13 settings on the heater:

1. off

2. low no thermostat

3. hi no thermostat

4.-8. low on each of 5 thermostat settings

9.-13. high on each of 5 thermostat settings

There is a single button to cycle through these settings. If the heater is on low/65, then you have to push the button exactly 4 times to turn the heater off. If you accidentally push it on too many times, then you have to push it 12 more times to cycle through all the settings again. Very annoying if you want to change the settings with any frequency.

The thermostat is set in 5 degree increments which is fine enough me. However, I could see myself wanting a temperature setting of less than 60 degrees at some point (such as to prevent pipes from freezing), but this isn't available. Yet the unit does have an 80 degree setting, which I can't see myself ever using. At 80 degrees, I am turning the air conditioning on!

I will not be buying another one of these in the future, but will go with the Lasko instead, which I have really liked. You don't know the exact temperature setting you are getting with the thermostat with the Lasko. However, on the Lasko the thermostat has a much greater range and is very easy to turn on and off. This Holmes unit works great if you always need the same setting, but otherwise it is a pain.

I bought this for my father's bathroom so he could turn it on and be warm after he showers. It's compact and fits perfectly in a spot between the shelving and doorway. I had thought this device doubled as a cooling fan but it's just a heater. The blower pushes out a good amount of heat and it works great for the small room.

Product is as described and is easy to assemble. Holds 1/4 cord of wood PLUS depending on how high you stack.

Shipping was quick but the packaging left alot to be desired...in particular for the Fastening Bolts (which are the MOST IMPORTANT part of the package IMO).

It seems they kinda tape or fasten the bolts into the plastic of the End loops....however it is definite that during shipping....these bolts come loose and bounce around in the box.

You need 12 Bolts with Washers & Nuts.....I got 11....so had to run over to HOME DEPOT and find ones that fit into the holes of the middle bracket.

If they fix that.....this is the best option for a log rack at an affordable price.

The photo does not match the product. There are bars in the end loops and there are no longer cross ties for the bottom of the legs. I had to make my own to prevent spreading. Still good value for the money.

Easy and quick to assemble, and much stronger than I expected. We considered buying the 4-foot model, but we're gald we didn't. We've piled this rack higher than the end rails; but it holds up beautifully. this means we don't have to go out in rain and snow to the woodshed so often. It's great to have the wood off the floor in our garage; it makes it easy to sweep and clean underneath. The Contemporary Arch model is for some strange reason 10 dollars cheaper. No complaints about that -it's already an outstanding value! A+++

As another reviewer has commented, this rack is simply a cut above other racks that I've seen at a similar price point. Assembly is extremely easy, the rack is adequately sturdy without being over-engineered (and therefore pricey), and the design lends it some elegance. When the man I buy my firewood from came to the house, he remarked that I had a really nice rack, and since I'm a guy I don't think he was hitting on me. Note that the color is bronze, not black. This is a wonderful value.

I bought this last fall and it really made life easier this past winter. We have a lot of firewood but it isn't close to the house, so we kept this rack in a sheltered area closer to the house and stacked it periodically through the winter. It is sturdy and well-balanced. The decorative arch design on the ends kept the end logs secure.
