Does a good job heating a 10" x 12' bedroom. It's totally silent, so it's perfect for the bedroom. It does heat up almost instantly, but at only 1000 watts, does not heat up the room very quickly. Best to turn it on an hour before you turn in, to give it time to heat up the room. I'm using it in a house that I set to 58 degrees overnight, with single digit temperatures outside. The bedroom stays in the upper 60's for the night while this is on. Update: It stopped working after a couple of months. Got a new one that's been working fine all winter. The one year warranty was good, but the return experience was poor. Had to call many times over many days to get an actual person. The return involved cutting the end of the power cord and mailing at my expense back to them (good to not have to pay to send the entire unit back). Plus, had to send them money to cover shipment of the replacement unit (I think it was $16). All in all, it cost me over 40% of the original cost to get warranty replacement. It seems that this is becoming a common practice these days, but not easy to find out until you call for repair. This item does NOT promote enough heat even at a high setting. I recommend the DeLongi flat panel heater, as you can actually mount the heater, and it puts off a great deal to heat at a much lower setting, for about the same price of this unit...Want Soleus Air HM1-10-32 Ultra Thin Micathermic Heater, Black Discount?
This heater only worked for a total of about 60 hours. Apparently Soleusa Air makes their items VERY cheap.

I am very happy with this set. It looks great and is well made. The handle grips are heavy. My only issue is that you have to use lock tight on the handles to keep them on there tight. The tongs are awkward to use. The implements easily become detached from the handles in use, but I glued them on.The handles on the tools constantly become loose during use. Do not waste your money, this issue is very frustrating and a safety issue.

Quartz infrared heaters are so awesome. They are safe and they don't burn the air. We own a similar, much larger unit for our upstairs space. It's worked very well for years. This unit is tiny, quiet and very flexible. Low and high settings work perfect for not so cold or very cold temps throughout winter. In checking the reviews on a number of heaters I decided on this particular heater, and I think I made a good choice. There are several reasons I chose this heater. First it is compact. I need it for a small room, and I didn't want one of those large box heaters you see so much of. This is less than half the size of those larger units. Second, it uses quartz tubes. The nice thing about quartz tubes is that there is no odor. I have come across several heaters using ceramic elements (all by Lasko), and I would not recommend them as they all give off some kind of odor. I not sure if it is healthy to breath in this odor; sometimes the odor can be irritating to my throat and lungs. Thirdly, it heats my small office just fine. Great heaters! I'm so glad that I spent a little more and tried the infrared heaters instead of the regular space heaters. They heat better and for half the energy.

I wanted to use my garage as a woodworking shop. Dimensions are 12'W x 19'L x 9.5' H. It is lightly insulated and the door is leaky. I live in Northern VT. It was 8 degrees F outside Saturday and 15 degrees F in the garage. I have some cast iron in the garage such as the table saw and the chop saw. There are also some very large cupboards. During the last snowstorm (am losing track of them these days) local power on this farm was out for almost 2 days. However, I was able to stay at least one night in this dark, cold house because of this great heater, which I put in the open doorway between 2 bedrooms. I ran it all night long, and into the next morning, and both bedrooms actually got 'too hot', until it finally ran out of fuel (Klean-Heat fuel). Had to vacate for a local hotel at that point. I'm not sure what Martha Stewart would say, but I even carefully made cocoa on this heater by sitting my mug on the top of the grill until the milk was scalding. Have oil heat as primary heat source, supplemented by electric space heaters, but this DuraHeat heater is my 'go to' heater to heat up any space where the other heat sources are failing to do their job. Needless to say, when there was no electricity, I was sincerely glad I had bought my DuraHeat. I can't tell you anything technical about it other than it is easy for a girl to figure out how to operate it. I was not in a pinch when I bought this unit. It was right after Sandy, but I happened to have electricity, gas, etc. While the electric was out it dawned on me that should another storm (or incident) like Sandy occur again, I would seriously need an alternative heating source. I purchased this unit at Home Depot and have not been disappointed at all. Home Depot was out of K1 Kerosene, so I dropped by my local Walmart and they had the 5 Gallon jugs in stock. Great heater. Must be prepared to do work in using it from cleaning to putting in kerosene to--requires maintenance and careful watching. However, it puts out great heat. Just follow the instructions as it lends itself to open spaces or large rooms. Have to be careful when using this heater. Again, follow instructions.

I LOVE it. I hardly ever use my (electric) range. Anticipating that I'd be moving off the natural gas grid I bought this 2.5 yrs ago to see what life with Induction would be like. It's fabulous. I love induction burners. If you're using a cast iron pan, they're faster, more responsive, and more efficient than regular electric burners. So I bought this one and two others to compare them. Firstly, I received what is obviously an open box return or a refurb. The box was ripped almost in half, the plastic around unit ripped, it had fingerprints and grease marks on it as well as chips of the silver paint on the side and one chip in the cooking surface (but outside of the cooking area itself). This is a low cost Induction burner and works well for the cost! Ordered a different brand and returned it because of problems with it. The SPT burner is a bit hard to get used to. Once I got the hang of using the Temp controls rather than the power settings it was easier to cook items such as eggs which require low temps. The buttons are convenient and good quality. Definitly worth what I paid for it.

If you have the typical junk mail stuffing your mailbox, with it going right into the trash, you have a ready source for making paper logs with this gadget. Shred the paper, throw in some chipped twigs, leaves and yard clippings if you wish, soak thoroughly. Scoop the glop into the press, packing it firmly into the corners and right up to the top of the forming section. Put on the press part, squash the water out as much as possible. It seems to take a couple weeks in the sun to dry the logs out properly. Once fully dry (they will be very light and fairly solid)you get a couple hours burn time. The Kotulas paper log maker works best with newspaper torn into thin strips and then soaked for a few days. Other types of paper and cardboard did not seem to work well for me. It's a fairly messy process: inky hands, icky water squeezed and poured from unit, but all in all after about a dozen logs I've gotten pretty good at it. It takes a long time for the logs to dry, which is my biggest complaint.

These foot warmers are wonderful. The only negative thing I can say is that the wires can be annoying, but once you have them on, you don't notice anything except for your warm toes. You can conveniently turn them on and off as needed. I get a solid 4-5 hours out of a set of rechargeable batteries. These are an excellent option to keep your toes warm in the winter if you have poor circulation like me. They cost a bit more than the chemical warmers, but quickly become more economical since you can use them over and over. Unlike chemical warmers they keep working even when your footwear is basically airtight like many well-insulated boots.
