The heat lamp is sturdy and good looking. The light from it is more like candle light and is good for evening dinners on the porch............or cozy mornings in spring or fall. It does throw the 10 ft circle of heat as it says. It is not to be thought of as a heater to heat a whole room but to extend the time an unheated room can be enjoyed.

Purchased this lamp over 3 years ago and today it finally died after many hours of service. Is it comparable to a gas outdoor heater? absolutely not. Is it more convenient absolutely. Solid heat in a 4 to 5 ft. radius, at about 46 deg outside/inside temp. Dissipates as it gets colder. Also gives a nice glow, has a sensor that will shut down the heater if the unit tips. However, there were a number of problems; 1. pole/stem was cracked when received, barely noticeable, but it got worse over the years and began to lean in one direction. 2. unit shorted out 3x ! (The wires in the lampshade area got too hot at the connection and burned out) I repaired it each time but today the lamp is going in the trash. Funny thing is that when it worked (and it worked most of the time) it was great! Would really like another one but I'm not too jazzed about spending this kind of money for a product with a short shelf life and the repair issues.

We called to report that it had arrived broken, so they sent another...broken as well. Wasn't as bad and helped my 80 yr old mother smoke in garage, so used anyway. Had turned off, walked out a few hrs later and turned itself on. Have to unplug, can't trust it any other way.

This item is, pretty.. BUT, in the few minutes it ran, it consumed large amounts of electricity. The on off switch failed.. Sparks, flames, yeah, great heater..

Oh, and product states, patio heater.. no where on website is this stated.

I like the style. It has too small of a base and it will get blown over in high winds. The heating element also trips the breaker switch sometimes.

I bought this fireplace to go outside on my covered porch about six months ago. I was slow to provide a review as I at least wanted to see how it held up in this atmosphere after a few months. Well I really did not buy it for necessarily for a lot of heat , more for looks. And it has not let me down. It does produce heat but since my configuration is outside, I really cant say how much heat it would give off inside. But it is sure worth the try.... i love it and my back yard is an extention of my home.

This heater has two settings, but the low is about the same heat as a hair dryer. The higher setting is, well, like two hair dryers. The switches are on the top left side so they are easy to get to and don't show much. The product description said it had a thermostat and a remote. It does not. I have used it in a 9 x 12 room as back up heat when I turn the house furnace down and I have been comfortable. But the thing about this heater is, it really is so cute you may be tempted to forgive it for it's heat output. You may even want to carry it from room to room, which is what I did. But it wasn't easy. It is pretty heavy for me. It is a flat black metal and a pretty old fashioned design, an arched wheat design, with very realistic flame and glowing coals (even when I replaced the 2 to watt candelabra bulbs with 15 watt bulbs to save electricity.) The weather was so dismal here lately in Colorado, I took it into the living room just to enjoy the fireplace and ended up dragging it in front of the couch and warming my feet with it.

It came in a badly damaged box with a broken leg, which I repaired with JB Weld instead of returning. UPS beat it up, but it did not have adequate packing to begin with. After getting a second electric stove of a different brand, I would say the Vernon was overpriced.

Post Script. I have been using this heater throughout the winter. I suspect it is quite the energy hog. It has tripped my breaker more than once. It would probably be more effective in a very small room, but it does take the chill off the above mentioned room.

I think it will make a very pretty end table with a plant on top of it.

The 3-D Electric Fireplace has been around a couple of years now, but the cost was still fairly high. Now, it has come down to just at $100. The 3-D flame has improved vastly over the earlier drum-light type to the point that it's hard to tell if it is real or not. I bought mine through Amazon.com, and was pleasantly surprised too, at the low shipping costs!

If there is a drawback, it would be that I will have to add my own stovepipe if I want authenticity, but that isn't a real big problem.

I am very, very happy with my purchase!

For many years, I have had a fireplace to add enjoyment to our ND snowy winters---1st, a wood burner, and then a gas fireplace. The woodstove was the real deal, along with messiness and work. The gas(with a remote) was the best---in my opinion--no fuss and yet a real fire. Recently, I moved into a small apartment, without any fireplace. I went looking for the feeling of cozy, a 'pretend' fire, and found it in my new Vernon Electric Stove. The 'logs' shine more than glow, but the dancing 'fire' met my expectations in an electric stove at this price--it gave me cute and cozy, exactly what I wanted. The weather has been too warm to review how it heats, but I turned on the fan and it does blow out heat, so I am sure it will give me the extra heat where I want it.

my friend was going on and on about her new heater and I wondered how anyone could get that excited over an appliance. When I saw it I knew I must have one and as I live far out of the city I ordered on Amazon to be delivered. When the package came I heard some slight rattling in the box, and was very disappointed that it made a constant clicking clunking noise when operating. It worked well, put out great heat at lowest setting and was gorgeous. I remembered I had read reviews that another brand made noise so I specifically order this brand instead.( I took the noise to be just a normal part of the mechanism) I went back online and found a review ( of another similar brand)that referred to the same noise and the guy said he opened it up and the rotating rod was just off its mount. SO I bravely unscewed ( about a dozen screws)the back ( Firesense customer support was available),and it was a simple matter to put the rod back in its place and it works great with only the low fan sound. Im writing this for anyone who may have this experience and save them the trouble of sending it back or returning a great product unecessarily.

Why would you NOT get this item or it's sister the XtremePowerUS Newspaper, Paper Log Maker? Honestly...

I don't know about you, but I get enough junk mail every day to nearly make a brick every day. It is really ridiculous to see how much paper we throw away (or put in the recycle bin every day). So instead of throwing away your paper, why not make bricks that you can use in your fire pit at home or take camping? Or if you are a prepper store them somewhere in case the SHTF. Aside from the setup cost you will be making bricks for FREE.

The method I use is to gather paper, shred it, and when a box is full to go and dump it in a concrete mixing bin (I got mine at Home Depot). You could easily put it in a 5-gallon bucket as well. Fill the bucket up with water so that all the paper is submersed. Let the paper sit for 72 hours and then scoop the wet paper into your press and fill it up to the brim. There is no need to press it down to put more in there in fact if you do so it will probably mess it up because you won't be able to press it down enough. So once it is sloppy and in all the compartments put the top of the press on and then move the handles to press it down. Once the top of the press is all the way down (grey touches black) then take the top piece off and slide out each compartment and flip the brick out somewhere that they can dry. It will probably have to dry for 3-10 days depending on your climate.

If you are really ambitious you can take a big piece of wood after 24 hours and smash the paper down to make it more mush instead of strips. You don't have to use a shredder, but I suggest it. It makes things a lot easier and your bricks more consistent. As far as shredders go, I don't think the shredders that do micro-cuts would work maybe not even the confetti cut as the pieces are too small. I use a Fellowes Powershred W-11C 11 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder (3103201) and it works perfectly. Just make sure that if you are going to do a lot of shredding for this that you lubricate your shredder to prolong the life of it I use something similar to Aleratec Shredder Lubricant Sheets White (240165) which are really handy because I just throwin a sheet and it does all the proper amounts of oil for me.

Bonus on all this is that you are arguably helping the planet even more than recycling. I know recycling would keep the paper in service. However if you think about it to recycle you must put it in a bin, someone needs to come drive over in a big gas-guzzling truck to collect it, then it needs to have people and machines sort it, then it needs to be broken back down with more electricity and water, then it needs machines to make it back into whatever it is being made into, then it is wrapped in plastic, then it is again shipped around the world by gas guzzling planes and trucks, and finally you drive your gas gar over to the store to buy it. With this, you keep it and reuse it for something else and cut out all that re-manufacturing consumption just to recycle it.

The only thing I can knock it on is that it was built in China. I REALLY like to buy products made in America.

I have three of these and they work very well making solid paper bricks. However, I would say it take several days for the paper if not weeks for it to dry out even in this dry Colorado weather.

I got this brick maker at the end of September, rainy weather in the Pacific Northwest. I use a paper shredder for all materials -including cardboard boxes. I dump shreds into one of two 20 gallon rubbermaid containers on the deck and cover with water. I leave the shreds for about a week, then using a wide-mouthed kitty litter scoop I scoop the shreds in to the slots. It takes 5-6 scoops to fill each slot. I found the scoop makes it faster and easier and less messy than doing it with my hands. I use the same water for the next shreds. After I squeeze the water out of the bricks I put them at the base of my woodstove or on a rack in the garage where a dehumidifer runs. It takes about 6-7 days for the bricks to thoroughlly dry in these environments.

Before making the bricks I read all the reviews, hints and watched a video on YouTube. After a few tries, my bricks now are always solid, don't crumble and burn well. I could never make enough bricks to heat my home through winter, but I can supplement the wood with the bricks. I do believe that it's important that the paper shreds are really well saturated and have had time to break down. If I drizzle old candle drippings on the top, they make good fire starters too.

UPDATE: 12/11/12: Yesterday I decided to burn ONLY paper bricks since I had many and wanted to test their efficacy. The outside temperatures ranged from 39-46 degrees. I started a fire at 9am using 3 paper bricks, one with wax drizzling; the fire went all day till 11pm, when I went to bed, fire still going. I added 2-3 bricks an hour during the day, using up a total of 34 bricks. The house stayed at 66-69 degrees. I prefer the house a little warmer and think that combining wood and paper bricks is the way to go.

Now that I know how well they work, it makes me wonder how many I can make and store during the summer. I know I can get throw away newspapers and broken down cardboard from the stores for free. It will definitely lessen how much wood I use.

I am going to give several friends 3 bricks to try -these bricks are great and once you get the hang of making good solid bricks, its the responsible thing to do.

I live in an apartment and i needed a good cheap source for fire wood. I picked this up and it came in a rather large box that had crumpled corners so i was disappointed i opened the box to find the log maker box(considerable smaller) and 2 pieces of crumpled paper and a kotulas catalog again disappointed. the log maker was dinged in one spot scratched in another and the handle was bent. I bent the handle back and it works fine. the directions are really vague it says the logs will be ready to burn in 2 days with good weather but since i dont burn in the winter I cant attest to this in the colder weather it takes nearly 2 weeks in a warmer room but once they are dry i burn 2 a day and it keeps my 1000 sq/ft home warm enough. i would buy again. p.s. i baught this one as opposed to the 1 log because it was 5 dollars more and had free shipping.

I have had this paper log maker for about 2 months so I figure I can write a reasonably good review of it. Overall I am happy with the purchase. With the amount of time it takes to make a batch I don't know why anyone would buy the one that makes one at a time. It would take all freaking day trying to make them one at a time. Do yourself a favor and buy the four brick model.

Ignore anyone that says it does not work. It took me two batches to get it down just right so take your time. It does work but there are a few suggestions that make it work better.

First, Use shredded paper. If you try to just soak news paper or unshreded paper it will not stick together properly. Also, each batch will be a little different. Some will stick together better than others because of the different types of paper that might be mixed in.

Second, Buy a big plastic trashcan to soak it in and a small shovel. I have a 33 gallon can that I use. A half full 33 gallon can will make about 26 bricks. Also, the paper will smell bad. Some batches worse than others depending on what types of paper were used.

Third, Let the paper soak for minimum of 4 days. I let mine soak for about 5 7 days. The longer it soaks the better it will turn out.

Fourth, Use some type of boards to place the bricks on. This way you can move them indoors when it is going to rain.

Fifth, Be patient. It takes 3 5 days of full sun on average for the bricks to dry. You will have to turn the bricks every day to let the bottom side dry.

Sixth, Be prepared for a mess. The shredded paper will spill out the bottom and make a mess wherever you press the bricks.

Pros:

Bricks burn well

Easy to use

Solid construction

Cons:

Makes a huge mess

Most of the paper smells bad after soaking

Takes a long time to dry

I have this radiant heater and 2 similar models. They are all noisy for about 15 seconds when they turn on. I suggest running it on low in small rooms so it does not cycle on and off. I buy this type of heater for 2 reasons. 1. I find that forced air heaters dry out the air, which irritates by allergies. 2. The biggest reason is that my cats LOVE laying in front of these heaters for hours. The heater gives off a glow which feels like you are sitting in the sun. I have been using them for years without any safety issues, just use common sense.

This unit does a good job heating up my small office (measuring about 10'x12') rather quickly, and its thermal control keeps the room in a comfortable temperature by turning the unit on and off automatically. The unit radiates heat over a pretty large area (with a small fan helping push the hot air out front). This means that it probably will do a good job keeping you warm in a larger space as well, as long as it's placed closeby.

My only complaint is the noise. The unit makes a rather loud rattling noise when its heating elements turn on, which lasts about 10-15 seconds. The fan is reasonably quiet in the low setting, but can be distracting when on high. I certainly wouldn't put one of these in the bedroom.

I really like the Holmes HQH307 quartz heater. I use it to warm up my master bathroom in the morning. I turn it on before I hop in the shower. By the time I get out of the shower, the bathroom is toasty warm and I can stand in front of the heater while drying off.

I went through several other heaters over a three year period before settling on this one. I've used two different ceramic heaters, one was a low cube and one was a tower. Neither one of those put out as much heat as I wanted yet they consumed a lot of electricity. Then I tried a parabolic heater. It was much more efficient, but the beam of heat was too narrow. It would heat a portion of my body too much and the rest not enough. It wouldn't heat the room at all.

I've had my HQH307 for about three months which is long enough to verify that it doesn't cost as much to use as the ceramic heaters did, yet it puts out a lot more heat. The internal fan is powerful, but it's also pretty loud. For my purpose in the bathroom, that's not a problem. The fan setup is well designed: It pulls air in from the top and pushes it out the front between the heating elements which heats up the whole bathroom rather easily. The heating elements rattle a bit during the first few seconds of warming up, but that is standard on quarts heaters. The rattle goes away almost immediately.

The lifting handle molded into the back of the case is in a good location and stays cool. Don't mistake the bar across the front for a handle because it gets HOT!! It's just there to keep the front of the heater off the floor in case of a tip-over. I like the manual controls on the top of the heater. One turns the heater to low or high and the other adjusts the variable temperature control. Simple and foolproof.

The Holmes HQH307 quartz heater is a great value and I recommend it without hesitation.

NOTE: I also own a Holmes HQH319U quartz heater which is about $20 more. It has the same housing and heating elements, but the fan is quieter and the controls are digital. You might consider it if you want a powerful and efficient heater that's not as loud.

After having purchased (and returned) a handul of different heating units, I purchased this unit last year from Wal-Mart for around $50. My original intention was to locate an inexpensive space heater that would heat a medium sized room and, at the least, heat me but I continued to find units that didn't live up to their marketing slogans, including the oft praised mica boards. Having almost given up, I decided to limit my scope to something that would at least heat my general direction. This heater is perfect for just such a cause (whereas the other heaters couldn't even do that well; in fact, I spent all night waiting for the mica board to do SOMETHING and was sorely disappointed).

PROS:

Heats up FAST. Consistent. Definitely warms you. Pleasing glow. Auto shutoff for overheat or tipping. PERFECT for a single or two-person family.

CONS:

Limited heating area point and blast with this one, don't expect the entire room to feel heated. If the room is SMALLER, it can do that job, but a living room may feel lacking.

Loud You may not mind the sound of this unit but if you're working on something requiring acute attention, this may bug you. In fact, the unit isn't that loud and I personally find it to have a pleasing hum, but some reviewers claim it's as loud as a race track I'm sure they're being facetious.

I gave it three stars because it can't heat up a medium sized room. However, for its price, and for the consistently pleasing temperature it maintains, I would HIGHLY recommend this heater, ESPECIALLY for single and two-person households.

Want Holmes HQH307 Tower Quartz Heater Discount?

For the money this is a great heater. The heat is radiant and penetrating and provides more deep-down warmth to a room than does a ceramic heater. I like the glow, which reminds me of a woodburning stove.

The initial rattle is nothing to be concerned about and it does go away in seconds. However, I had a lesser, continuing rattle when the heater was sitting on a carpeted floor. I took a thin cutting board with an extremely hard plastic surface to set the heater on on top of the carpet. That cured it! I was careful to keep an eye on it and make sure that the cutting board was not getting warm, starting to melt, etc. The cutting board was not impacted at all. In fact, it stayed surprisingly cool despite the heat being put out, even on a high setting.

The manual controls do not bother me. There is no digital temperature reading, which does not matter to me either. I don't think the thermostats on economical heaters are that accurate anyway. The thermostat does facilitate cycling on and off throughout the night while I am sleeping, which is what I am really after.

If I do hear it running in the night, I briefly think "aah, heat" and go back to sleep. If I do notice the glow, I briefly think "aah, nightlight" and go back to sleep.

There are more elaborate heaters out there for more money, but for what I have spent I am getting good, penetrating heat, and thanks to my cutting board it is rattle-free in a carpeted room.

I have been looking for a nice large electric fireplace for about 2 years under $500. This one came and it is great! It is large enough to make a statement and have a prominent place in the room. The assembly took me about 1.5 hours and was not that difficult -you just need a screwdriver. The heater on the fireplace produces heat immediately and warms a room about 20'x20' nicely. I really like this little guy. It was easy to assemble. It cranks out some serious heat. So far so good. The only complaint I have about it, is that the grill on the front gets REALLY hot when it's turned on. I guess it makes it more like a real fireplace! :)

This heater works fine if you have a small room to heat and have a couple hours to wait for it to make a difference. I should have done more research and learned what convection heating (like this one) is all about. There is no warm air that blows from the heater unit, rather it just gets hot and the warm air rises from it. If you are looking for faster and more directed heat...I suggest a heater with a built-in fan.

Because the digital sister model SLP3310 would not work with a timer, I returned the 3310 to the big box store where I bought it and bought on-line 2 of the SLP3300 for $60 each & free shipping. The 3300 is analog, with 2 rotary dials. The 3300 will come back on after a power outage, and it will work with a 3-prong, 1875 watt timer. I use the 'low' heat setting with the thermostat on a modest setting, in a 12 x 14 foot room with 8 foot ceilings, and it keeps my (well insulated) bedroom very, very comfortable. Although Sunbeam has a lousy reputation in electric blankets, this 3300 heater appears well made. Note, the 'high' setting could burn paint off a wall if positioned too close.

I bought this unit last year and it stopped working after a few months. You turn it on, it heats up for 3 minutes then shuts down. Save your money, buy something else, this product seems to have a high failure rate from what I have read online.

I bought one of these a little over a year ago. I didn't use it that much, but after the warranty (1 yr.) ran out, it stopped working. They sent out another one (to Sunbeam's credit), but it worked for about 8-10 hours then stopped. This is an example of too much tech for a simple product.

I took it apart to see if I could wire it back together and bypass the electronics. This one had already been worked on. The solder joint for the power cord was loose from the circuit board.

Threw it away and bought some Pelonis oil-filled space heaters. Rock solid.

We tend to keep our central heating set pretty low (65 during the day, 61 overnight), but we have a newborn so we wanted to keep one of the rooms really warm. This unit does a good job of keeping a 14x12 ft. room warm during the day and overnight. As the other reviews say, it doesn't heat up a cold room very quickly, but it does a good job of maintaining a temperature once it get to its target temp.

pro: it seems to do a good job maintaing a temperature once you figure out the right dial positions. It doesn't keep swinging between too cold and too hot.

cons:

1. No temperature degrees markings I'd really prefer to be able to turn the dial to 70 degrees and know that it'll shut off at 70. The way it is now, I had to turn the dial all the way up, wait for the room to get too hot, turn it down a little, then a little more, etc. until it finally kept the room at a comfortable temperature.

2. Timer it'd be nice if it had a built in timer so it would turn on/off at preset times. Right now we just have to switch it off and then *hope* we remember to switch it on a few hours before we want the room to be warm.

Every spring I wipe down my insert and groan... this year I tried this stove polish and WOW. I know it says for unpainted stoves but I used it like shoe polish. Put a little on a rag, rubbed it on, buffed it off until the cloth came up clean. With a painted surface, I used very little but the stove looks brand-new again! It took ring marks off where I put my 'water dishes' and the wax marks where I keep a jar of candle wax for scenting the house.

I can't wait to visit Mom and the in-laws so I can do their free-standing stoves!

Update: October 2009 First Burn.

I expected a nasty smell and there wasn't one. Just a little 'aroma' but nothing nasty. Over the summer, when dusting the insert, if I dusted lightly with a dry cloth it looked great. This week, I gave it a good buffing and it reactivated the product (the cloth was black) and looked all shiny and freshly polished again. The other two stoves we did also look great and I will put this on my list of MUST HAVE products. It's not fast and easy but the best things in life rarely are!

This product does what it is supposed to. One suggestion is to order two tubes, as one is not enough to cover an average size wood stove.

This polish worked very well. It was easy to put on and rubbed off easily. A little bit goes a long way. The stove looks really great. I haven't used the stove yet to see how it holds up to the heat, but so far it's great!

This could be a very good heater option for some people, if the features fit what you need.

It takes up relatively little floor space, and the pedestal design puts the heater up a little higher, if that suits your needs. (A regular tower heater might be fine for lots of people, though.)

It's 30 tall" and the base is a 12" circle. The top part is about 7.5" wide at the top (the widest part).

Pros:

High 1500W (5118 BTU) and low 900W (3070 BTU) settings. And two fan speeds to go with that the fans runs more slowly and quieter on low which is a feature that's missing on many heaters for some inexplicable reason.

Quiet for a heater with a fan, especially on the low setting. (But that can't be used with the auto thermostat setting, see below!)

Well built, and well packed.

The light weight and convenient handle, at the top of the back, make it easy to carry and move around.

The controls are well placed, easy to read, and make sense they do the things you'd think they should.

The LCD shows the room temperature and the thermostat setting, exactly no guessing on a dial with marks around it! Both seem very accurate it matches a digital thermometer I have in the room.

Cons:

The biggest one by far for me the auto setting (to maintain the temperature you set) only uses high heat. Low auto isn't an option.

No automatic shutoff if it tips over. Maybe the overheat protection would take care of it, and it doesn't really get that hot but I'd think they'd want to have that in a heater with this design.

The base looks a little big 12" across but I suppose it has to be to make the pedestal work.

There's no auto low setting which was the main reason I wanted this heater, to have something quiet that could maintain the temperature in a bedroom at night. That would also mean it would switch on and off fewer times, and draw less peak electric current. Big oversight on the manufacturer's part.

Though otherwise, it's about as quiet as fan heater could be, I imagine. If you need something quieter, look at something like the DeLonghi HHP1500 Mica Panel Radiator very quiet, but the heat circulates only by convection (hot air rising), which might not work for all situations.

This heater requires some assembly of the pedestal and base. Just tightening some screws, really, but it's a little cumbersome since the top piece can't rest anywhere given the shape. Just plan on it taking ten minutes or so.

The manufacturers website, laskoproducts.com, has more info and you can download the owners' manuals in pdf form.

There are multiple model number versions of this heater 5355, 5365, and 5350 and as far as I can tell they vary only in the colors and what stores sell them. You can read lots more comments on a similar version of this heater at the HomeDepot website.

This heater works great! Now I have to give a little disclaimer: I don't have much experience with many different brands or types of space heaters. I do know however that this space heater kept a 20'x25' room at 85 degrees no problem. I should mention that one of the walls in this room is almost entirely windows (which lose heat quickly).

Pros:

-Comes with remote

-Is quiet (It sounds like a fan on a low setting)

-Heats well

-Space efficient (takes up little room)

-Very lightweight with handle (easy transport)

-Won't start a fire! (I touched the face of it and held my hand to it on high setting, it is warm but not painfully hot. The entire rest of the unit stays so cool it is amazing!)

Cons:

-Control Panel is only visible from almost directly in front (I thought there was something wrong at first because I couldn't make out anything on it)

-Timer Function: You may only set the timer to go for a certain length of time. I was under the impression you could set the heater to START after a certain time (e.g., to warm up the room before you get home)

Other than that I found that you have to keep it on oscillating to really keep the room warm, otherwise it only heats the area in front of it and continually switches to low power, never getting the entire room to the desired temperature. I went through a ton of these reviews on different heaters and one concern I saw in a bunch of them was that the power cord might not hold up (i.e. cause electrical fire). I got the heater for my girlfriend so I wanted to be sure this wouldn't be a problemI ran it for over 14 hours straight on the high setting and the cord wasn't even warm, so that put my fears to rest.

I've only owned this thing for about a month so I'll give a durability assessment later. If I don't change my review you can be sure that it hasn't broken downI will absolutely complain if this thing malfunctions within the next two years.

Update:

So she left it at her parents place over the weekend, and after setting it up they decided they wanted one for themselves. Just another testament to how well it works!

We try to reduce our heating bills by keeping upstairs doors closed, setting the furnace thermostat down and using space heaters for the room we are in. Last year I tried several space heaters. All but 2 stopped working. This year I bought the LASKO heater. After a month of using it I ordered another. We use them constantly. What we love about it: the base and shape of it, extremely quiet, heats a small room well, the timer feature and remote are very nice. Dislike: haven't found anything yet. If these continue working all winter, I will be very pleased. So far we have ran them to death and had no problems with them.

12/07/09 Update on this heater. I bought these two space heaters over a year ago. I covered them during the summer to prevent dust and the one other thing we don't do is use the oscillating feature. From trial and error with other floor heaters, that seems to wear them out quicker. Both these units are now into heavy use over the last month for their second winter. We have had no issues. I am about to buy 3 more because we fight over which rooms get these. My favorite things about these heaters are: (1) they are very quiet, (2) the timer feature, (3) physically do not seem to get hot like other heaters, (4) pedestal design gets the heat where you want it, (5) they work they heat a good sized bedroom. We've had no problems with either unit.

I love this heater.

It really does a good job keeping the bedroom warm. Sometimes I'll wake up and it'll be too hot that I have to turn it off... did I tell you that it comes with a remote control????

It's a great thing to have by the night table especially when you wake up in the middle of the night and don't feel like getting out of bed to shut it off.

I also love the fact that you can adjust the temperature to what you want and also how many hours you want it on for.

It's a excellent heater to have It's especially great for those of you who have Landlords that are too cheap to give you heat.

I had been searching online for a heater for months. I looked at every review. I got one at target for $50 and had it for about 1 month. The air started coming out cold once the heater felt the room was warm enough! Finally I started to borrow my roommates heater this one. It was awesome. Heats a room really fast. You can feel the heat right away. The cord gets a little warm when it's on too long but it turns off by itself if it gets too warm so no worries there. My roommate has had hers for about 3 years so I'm confident mine will last a long time.

Buy this! You'll be glad you did.
