This is a nice grate, but if you have a lot of fires, this one will not hold up. Mine is already starting to warp and I doubt I will get more than 1 season with it.This product is very sturdy weighs over 20 pounds. Thus, I believe it will stand up to the heat of the fire, which was my main criteria. However, the craftmanship of the product was less than expected. The bars are uneven and the distance between the front and back legs is off by inches on the left and right side. It's not quite as big or as curved as I expected but it's quite adequate. It's certainly worth the moneyGreat design, heavy and sturdy, looks great. I would raccomend this to anyoen who is looking for a functional grate rather than just a pretty one.

We were unable to use the heater once we read the installation instructions. It can not be put into any ceilings with insulation. You have to purchase the fan with the blower attached, and we don't want a blower attached, because we spent a lot of money on a super quiet fan for our bathroom, and did not want to add a noisy blower. I cannot feel any heat from this heater when standing on the floor. When standing on a step ladder, I do feel heat up to about two feet away from the bulb. This certainly does not help keep me warm after my shower! I read all reviews before ordering, and felt confident that this infrared heater would meet my needs. I am most disappointed. The only drawback, if you can call it that, is that the bulb, although screwed in fully, juts past the assembly a bit. We decided to let it go as it works well. It is only a minor cosmetic issue and actually the photo indicates it is not entirely flush with the assembly unit. The entire unit works well and is a nice added feature to our new bathroom.

We purchased this item as a gift for my husband's parents who heat with a wood stove. We are very pleased with the quality of the item and the size (perfect for wood stored in the house overnight). Although we haven't given them the item (Christmas present) we are sure that they will be pleased with the sturdiness of the item and the complement to the decor in the house.

I bought this for my 20'x20' semi-insulated attached garage in Wisconsin. It cranks out some heat, but not enough to realistically heat that garage in the winter unless it runs ALL the time. Nicely built unit, VERY simple, basically a coil, fan, and thermostat. There is nothing else inside this thing. When I turned this unit on, and placed it next to my existing 120V 1500W fan heater ($10 type model), I had to check several times because I didn't even think the 1500w heater was turned on! This unit cranks out some heat for it's size. It's basically the size of two shoeboxes taped together, or maybe a pice of paper, it's very small. I bought this to replace one I had for years. It seems to be the only heater with an accurate thermostat. -All1500 Watt heaters give out the exact same amount of heat, whether it is a $30 box with glowing ribbons inside or a big piece of wooden furniture with a fancy looking heater inside. An oil filled radiator gives off heat when you shut it off because of how long it took to get warm in the first place. How these thing react to changing conditions is the only difference. I would have given this 5 stars, as I loved it while it worked. Nice thermostat control and warmed the room nicely with fan blowing heat. BUT it stopped heating after one month of use. I saw that Consumer Reports rated this second to a $400. heater and was hopeful it would last at least one winter. I know Holmes products are cheap and only last a year at best. It does come with a one year warranty, but if you live 50 miles from civilization like I do, that's a whole lot of hassle just to get the product you bought for this very moment freezing cold! I'll never buy Holmes again. And I wish these reviews wouldn't put words in my mouth for the one star rating I don't hate it. I'm frustrated and disappointed and cold and not looking forward to the time and hassle it will take to make it right! I totally loved it while it worked! And I won't buy again from any company that only gives a one month return/exchange policy. If they did a simple exchange, I could have a working heater within the week.

I got this lighter because we have an antique stove and the burners need to be lit. I used to use a fueled lighter and I was using a leaky one without knowing it and it blew up on top of the stove. YMMV but it doesn't have the least bit of trouble lighting my gas stove burners. It doesn't seem to make any difference precisely where I put the tip or how I orient it it seems to be able to light the gas regardless. I got this for lighting my propane torch and Bunsen burner. I am very pleased with the lighter. It doesn't make a flame itself it just provides the spark to light a gas burner. It's very easy to use You put the end in the stream where the gas burner will be burning and push the button on the sparker a few times until the flame catches. I like this enough that I plan to get another one for the garage too.
