ORIGINAL REVIEW 5/22/13

Our Kenmore Estate dryer stopped heating last week. I took it apart and found the heating element was broken in one spot. The decision I had to make was should I buy this cheap replacement one for $20 shipped or the OEM one from the Kenmore website for $80+. Since it's such an easy part to replace I decided to try my luck with this cheaper element. It arrived today, I installed it and the dryer is heating just fine. I'm giving it a 4-star rating because 'I like it' and so far (1 day) it's been working fine. I'll be sure to update this review as time goes by to help give potential buyers a better feel for whether this heating element is the right choice for them. So far so good!

1ST UPDATE 5/29/13 It's been a week and we've probably used our dryer 5-10 times. Still drying great...

2ND UPDATE 6/17/13 It's been almost 4wks and the dryer is still going strong. At this point I'm still happy I bought the cheap-o over the OEM.

3RD UPDATE 7/27/13 Just over 2 months now and still working great...

We picked up a broken used dryer for my daughter from a neighbor that was throwing them away. The only thing wrong was the heater core had broken. It is easy to test for this with a Ohm meter. If you don't have continuity across the 2 connections of the element then it has a break in it somewhere and can't heat up. It has to be replaced and this replacement appears to be a quality piece.

I don't understand why ours keep going out. The first one went out after a week, the 2nd one just recently went out over the weekend after 3 months. I have a house full of people so it is just as cheap for me to keep buying them versus going to a laundry mat. I'm hoping this one will hold me over another month until I can buy a new set. I hear some good reviews then some bad. The item does show up in a timely manor and they did replace the one after a week. I'm not going to pursue it this time. I guess with all parts though, you either get a descent one or the one made on "Friday" lol.

This isn't the first time this part has gone out on my dryer. The first time it happened I bought the part locally for 3x the price. I remember that when I fixed it that time, it wasn't an original manufacturer product, but it did work so I didn't mind. Fast forward about 18 months and the same part is broken. I called the same place and they wanted the same amount. I asked them for the part number and decided to check out amazon. Sure enough, same non-OEM part but 1/3 the price. I expect this one to break in a year or so but it beats buying a new dryer.

Hi, The decorative Pine Cone Cover was shipped in just the manufacturer's packaging; plastic wrap in a sealed cardboard box without any padding bubble wrap or peanuts nor was the cardboard box put in another box with padding. The seller said the manufacturer would not allow the product to be taken out of the box to be re-packed, so that it would have to be packed in another box with padding to ship with-out damage. Several of the tips of the pine cone were broken off, so the damage was very noticeable. But more than that, the pine cone itself was poorly manufactured, with lots of air-bubble holes from when the material was poured into the mold. It was very tacky looking. Also, it was much larger than it appeared in the photo, so even if it wasn't damaged or poorly made, it would seem really out of place, instead of hiding the remote receiver cover. Note: the seller did refund the full purchase price as well as shipping and I didn't have to ship the item back; they just told me to 'dispose' of it. I appreciated not having to spend any more time or $$$$ shipping it back.

We purchased the fire pit for use in the Southern Arizona High Desert. A major consideration is fire safety. The screened cover for the top is heavy, fits well, and keeps the sparks in the pit. The animals outlined on the side of the device are also totally screened. We have used the pit several times now with just my wife and I as well as to cook and roast marshmallows with visitors. The grill fits very well and food cooks quickly. We burn only mesquite wood, cut on our property. The pit drafts very well and I start the fire with just one wadded full sheet of newspaper. Charcoal lighter fluid is unnecessary. The fire burns well, the sparks stay behind the screens, and ash dust is all that remains after it burns out. The animal outlines on the sides of the pit are just beautiful in the darkness. The pit is large enough to provide a warm and beautiful fire without approaching its considerable capactiy. The poker that comes with the unit is heavy and works well. The pit itself comes almost totally assembled. Attaching the legs is the only thing required. When you want to move the unit, the rail around the top remains cool and makes it easy to reposition it.

My wife and I are very pleased with the firepit and highly recommend it.

This is a great product which has expanded the use of our backyard and created fun family time. There's nothing like roasting marshmallows to bring all ages together. I especially enjoy this design because the fire is completely contained. I'm confident in leaving the fire without dousing it with water.

Good size for small backyard fire.

Cut outs add to aesthetics.

Works well as a BBQ with a fairly large amount of charcoal. Small grilling jobs are better done on a smaller BBQ.

Fit and Finish is good but not excellent. The protective ring around the top does not line up cleanly leaving a small gap. Otherwise sturdy and well made.

I appreciate the added depth compared to what some other brands offer. Allows for a satisfying size fire.

I recommend this item.

I have been looking for a good firepit now for the past few months and had Narrowed down from this model to another Landmann favorite the illustrious Landmann USA 28925 Ball of Fire Outdoor Fireplace.

The reason why I didn't choose the Ball of Fire is for one big reason, I didn't want to fork over 50 bucks more for what seems to me a very gimmicky/flimsy firepit. I mean sure it looks cool and all but I am looking for longevity and practicality. Cause lets face it not every homeowners association might fancy themselves with this item so close to other neighbors. Whereas this model seems more enclosed yet offers a very unique experience with the animal cut outs.

Lets get down to brass tax, this product is very well put together, the look and feel of it is heavy and is pretty much what you are looking for in terms of long term prospects. It took me maybe 15 to 20 minutes to get it fully setup. There was one cosmetic issue with mine preventing me from screwing in a section of the ring handle, but after man handling it, it went through with no issues.

I actually haven't taken this thing out yet for a spin as I just got the item today but I plan to use it in the next week as the weather improves. Once I do that I'll be sure to update this review and let you all know if it truly is worth a 5 star rating.

Also on a side note, and a pearl of wisdom. Buy yourself some Rust-Oleum 241169 High Heat Ultra Enamel Spray, Black, 12-Ounce. Put yourself a nice coat on everything to help prevent rust. Also invest in a Grill cover..a good one, not that cheap stuff that can't keep the rain out. Be sure to buy some regular play sand to put in the bottom of the bowl too, it will help ensure you have this thing for many years.

The reason I say these things is because the negative reviews I've been seeing from various users, is really on their part for not taking care of their pit. If you put in the effort to take care of something you will get more out of it. Hope this review helps you in your decision in purchasing this item. Any questions feel free to ask!

**After using the Firepit, I have to say the experience is well worth it. The animal cut outs were definitely a conversational piece and it just looks really nice, the spark arrestor did its job well and I just cannot wait to continue using this pit. Be sure to get that Rustolem and a pit cover!**

I have had this item for 2 years, and it still very sturdy. Does great out in the weather. Glad I didn't put a in gound fire pit, you just pick this one up and take the fun with you.

From the moment I opened the box I realized how well made this item is. Packaged neat and properly and all the pieces fit together perfectly. It is made from heavy sturdy material and my experience tells me it will last for many years. Cooked dinner on it the first night we got it and the grilling grate is a terrific bonus. Then added wood to the coals and enjoyed a long night of fire. The extra depth adds both a level of safety and it also helps tremendously with drafting to keep the fire going. I would like to warn anyone who wants to buy Dimplex Wall Heaters period, "don't". I bought 3. Two for my home and one for a friend's home. All three work and preform the exact same way, Terrible. You half to turn the thermostat all the way up to get it to come on when its cold. They then continually go off and on, off and on. On for about eight minutes each time. They don't stay on heating but about maybe five minutes, which does not heat the room at all. Like I said all 3 work just alike. Now one of them will not go off period unless I turn the knob all the way off. Because they keep going off and on continually for a short period of time the heater does not put enough heat out to warm the room. The heaters should since the room temperature before they go off so that when it gets warm, then cut off. But not so. Please do not buy Dimplex heaters thinking they will warm your house. Made only, I repeat only for indoor spaces, whether placed in a vestibule, entrance way, stairwell, kiosk, or other area subject to cold drafts and at that I can't see how they would work.

I am having to buy another brand called Q-Mark which is made to heat a 480 square foot room. I since then I have done a lot of research on wall heaters and found Q-Mark to be one of the top brands. Just cut my loses and move on. Like they say live and learn sometimes the hard and expensive way.

The heater was received in new condition. Installation was extremely simple. Works great. Nice feature to have the built-in thermostat. The only issue I have is the dial on the heater unit doesn't indicate temperature, so you have to guess where to set the dial for the proper temperature. Other than that, a great unit.

We are in the process of upgrading the thermostats for the electric heat in our house. The 20-year-old bimetallic thermostats have minimal utility--basically they seem to operate as on/off switches. Even when a temperature is set, +/10 degree (F) fluctuations are not uncommon. So, we want something a little more accurate as well as something that looks more contemporary. For most of the house, I have Aube or Honeywell digital thermostats. They are perfect--quiet, accurate, and reasonably attractive. I saw the Dimplex thermostat and thought I would try it. In the photos provided, it looks much more attractive than the digital thermostats by other vendors. It's also currently priced more than the digital thermostats--so, its selling point is really aesthetics. A couple points to note, however:

1) Make sure you get the right model. There's precious little description on the Amazon Web page, but there are two models depending on the Wattage requirements.

2) In the photos, it looks like the thermostat flush mounts to the wall. This for me was the real selling point: I can finally have a thermostat that's inconspicuous! As I installed it to my standard wall box, I quickly became convinced that there was no way to have a flush mount. Perhaps if the wall box was recessed into the wall and you could cut away the drywall around it, you might be able to get a flush effect. Instead, it sticks out from the wall (like every other thermostat), except the faceplate protrudes. This just looks silly. I have explored numerous ways to make this look better or to recess more of the unit into the wall, but I am convinced that this is not possible without a custom installation. Perhaps there is an optional decorative plate to go with it?

3) It's really loud when it clicks on or off. Louder than the old thermostats, and certainly lounder than the completely silent digital thermostats made by several vendors. The clicking could be quite distracting if put in a bedroom.

4) The plastic on the housing and especially the dial is very flimsy. The mechanism for turning on the thermostat entails pulling out the nob. The nob felt like it might actually break in the process. Similarly, the plastic is so thin on the faceplate that the LED status indicator actually lights up a good portion of the faceplate when there are no lights on in the room. It feels and looks cheap.

Bottom line: Save your money. At current Amazon pricing, you can buy nearly two nonprogrammable digital thermostats for the same price. I suspect they will ultimately look better and hold up better than this product.

Plus: Works with radiant and fan based heat. Electronic and therefore more accurate than bimetallic thermostats.

Cons: Poor fit to wall. Loud! Cheap materials.

Bi-metallic thermostats are a thing of the past. Our old thermostats wasted energy since they needed +-15 degrees variance to turn on or turn off. These thermostats are great replacements for your old bimetallic sets. They don't ground to the frame like the old ones which seemed weird, but they have nice long leads red and black. I have them running large cadet fan/element heaters in the walls. When the unit turns on, a nice subtle blue LED lights up just above the dial. Pull the dial out and the unit is active. Push the dial in and the unit is inactive. My wife is happy that I installed the Celsius rings instead of F. We set them to 22 degrees as a back up if the fireplace would run out of wood. Every degree clicks into place for exact temperature and I it's accuracy with a room thermometer. It was off only 1 degree. Fits into a standard box, but you will want to insulate the box since the unit will allow you to see into the box through the main panel. They really kick butt! Remember, these are 16a max. I guess that's why they can use only two wires for a single pole. Very nice product. Simple and accurate. Replaced three of them, box to trash, in under 30 minutes with a Phillips head screwdriver. Awesome!

Got the product and installed it same day. It worked for about 1 hour then burned out and went crazy. Manufacturer claimed it would work fine with my system. Don't spend the money for this unit, it is noisy and failed in the first hour.

This is the third electric mattress pad we have had and it is by far my favorite. I bought it because of the auto-off feature. My spouse is not so good about remembering to turn it off and now I don't have to check it.

We use the European style of bedding: a comforter with a duvet cover and no top sheet. Making the bed literally takes a few seconds. However, this set-up is impossible with electric blankets, so we use the electric mattress pads. The first one had very noticeable wires. Now we are not "Princess and a Pea" people, but it was not comfortable. It had to be on for at least 15 minutes to feel any heat. Still, we used it for many years. Later I replaced it with a better one. Still, the wires were uncomfortable and it was slow to heat. I put an additional mattress pad on top of the heated one to make it more comfortable, which probably reduced the heat even further, but it cushioned the wires.

This model is really great. I do not feel any wires at all. It heats very quickly. Turn it on PH and it preheats at the top setting for 30 minutes, then goes to what you had it set at.

The only thing I don't like about this is that the plug in is on the top (horizontal)foot of the bed instead of on the (vertical) side. Our feet hit a hard plate. It is not unpleasant, it will just take some time to get used to it. You also have to plug the unit in on an outlet that is on the right side of the bed for the controllers to properly reach your nightstands. It states that in the instructions, but I wanted to plug it in on the left (my husband's) side as my side's outlet was full. The first time I tried the bed I was unhappy with the heat. I had it on PH and didn't feel it. Then my foot happened to kick over to my husband's side and it was toasty warm. A minute spent moving the plug (and controllers) and it worked fine. Amazing what following the instructions can do.

This product works as shown. It has dual adjustable zones (my wife likes to cook, I merely like to steep) and a nice "preheat" mode that works quickly (turn it on before you brush your teeth, and the bed is warm by the time you get there). We haven't turned on the heat at all this winter, and we would have if we didn't have this.

We have previously owned electric blankets and this is *so* much better. Heat rises, make the most of it!

We've had it about a month so far, and no problems. I was worried whether we should pay a lot more for the more expensive line Amazon offered, but so far I am really happy with how this one turned out.

I purchased this product last week and it failed out of the box. Sunbeam's heated blanket and mattress pad products have many quality issues. I have purchased 3 within the the last 5 years and they typically will not last more than a single winter. I can guarantee they will not last the 5 year guarantee period. When they quit operating, Sunbeam requires that you ship the blanket to a service center somewhere in the south. After several weeks a blanket is returned to you. Ours was not the blanket shipped. At least the returned blanket was clean. Thanks! I purchased this heated mattresss pad because I thought it might be more durable than the blanket.

Sunbeam used to manufacture quality products that worked well and lasted for years. It's hard to believe this product is still marketed as the "#1 Heated Mattress Pad."

I bought this heater to go under my desk at work. While the turn knob is simple and is suppose to allow various settings, I have not had the experience of enjoying any settings. The heater shuts off within a minute. It doesn't matter what temperature I set it at. It will not go back on unless I unplug the heater and let it sit for 5 min. Bought this unit last week to put next to my desk at work, but I haven't been completely happy with it.

The heater turns on and heats up instantly, but it is more like an open oven door than a space heater. The heat is there, but the fan in the unit doesn't have much blowing power... so you end up with heat for 1 or 2 feet in front of the unit but not 4 or 5 feet in front of the unit. I had it under my desk today and couldn't figure out where the heat was going... it sure wasn't circulating around anywhere.

The unit does put off a lot of heat... unfortunately I couldn't find a happy medium between cooked ankles and cold ankles.

I like the simple temp knob on top, but I end up leaning over to turn it up and down all day as I get cold and hot.

If I were shopping again I would get a unit with more than one level of heat, more than one fan speed, and an on/off switch so I don't have to unplug it every day.

i am a person that listens to reviews very frequently when buying online, unfortunatly i had the misfortune to buy this is the store and go along with advertising!

i also use heaters a lot! not that i go through them, but i have one in each room i frequent! i hate hate hate hate the cold! i can't stand it!

this is a deplorable product!

-the product is loud, so loud it distracts you from what ever you are doing! work, writing, reading, talking, peace and quite, or hanging out! so quite, just a loud repeated deep whirring noise that goes on forever!

-the heater might as well have one setting of heat! no difference and no change! want it a little cooler? WELL TOO BAD! sorry no can do!

-in reference to the last point, the timer for the heater goes off in what feels like an instant! there you are with the heater at a slightly unreasonable distance so you can feel the heat, but no burn your self, and it just turns it self off! then it takes an extraordinary amount of time to turn itself back on! so you are freezing your butt of waiting for it to heat up again! might as well not have a heater!

-the little trey/base it is on lets you adjust its aim to face higher, which would be nice if you were a super small being! it raises the heater about half an inch, which makes no difference! so there i am in the kitchen (i have the heater just outside of the kitchen door, but i stand near it) with my legs on fire and top half from the thigh up freezing cold! what is the point?

-oh and i know they tell you this, but i am just saying it because i had a close call! watch out or it will burn you!

pricegrabbers shows an air purifier which is what i am looking for , but actual product IS A CRAPPY HEATER, other reviews words. You are idiot ameatures. What a waste of time trying to get a decent price. I cant even be shown the product I specified which is an air purifier with a washable filter!!!!
