My old Zojirushi water boiler conked out after 8 years of regular use, so I ordered the CD-WBC30. Features have gotten better in 8 years: the LCD display shows the temperature, and I have 4 thermostat settings instead of two. I used to have to choose between 208 degrees (too hot) and 140 degrees (too cold). I can now also select 195 degrees and 175 degrees. The 175 degree setting is just fine for instant coffee and oatmeal. I've used this boiler for two months without problems.

This is my second Zojirushi hot water pot. The first one is still going strong after years of use my daughter stole it and took it to college! The best thing about having a hot water pot is the instant availability of nearly-boiling water. I use it for tea, coffee (I make drip coffee through a single-cup filter) instant oatmeal, cup noodles, etc. It is much more efficient than using the microwave or stovetop.

The inside of the pot is easy to clean it has a Teflon-like coating. Any mineral build-up comes right off if the cleaning directions are followed to the letter. There are three choices for the "ready" sound silent, three dings, or a little melody. There are four temp settings and a timer it is nice to fill the pot and have boiling water ready when I get up in the morning.

I would not have any other brand of hot water pot, and I would NOT want to go back to heating everything in the microwave.

The 3 liter Zorjirushi is exactly what I wanted and I've been very happy with it. It heats and then holds 3 liters of water at your choice of 4 temperatures: 208 F, 195 F, 175 F, or 140 F. Whenever you want to make a cup of tea, you simply place your cup under the outlet and then press the button. Hot water is electrically pumped out in a nice controled stream. It's designed to hold water at a temperature so that you can quickly make tea, but it's not designed to heat one or two cups of water as quickly as a microwave. If you want a quick water boiler, that isn't the intent of the Zorjirushi. If you have a little counter space that you can leave the unit on all day, then you will always have perfect temperature tea water available instantly.

Any time you add water, whether it's just to top off after you've made a cup or it it is a complete fill, the Zojirushi will heat the water all the way to boiling for about a minute before letting it cool back to your temperature setting. The manual said this was to remove chlorine, but it is also a way to ensure pure water in case some users don't dump their water every day like I do. Originally, I would have liked to have the option to skip the boiling step when I was just topping off my water, but now I agree there's good reasons to have it. The only time any steam or humidity comes out of the top of the unit is for about 1 minute while it boils. I pull the unit out from under the cabinets when it's going to boil or else the steam makes the bottom of the cabinets damp. After the boiling is done, I slide the unit back under the cabinets and everything stays completely dry for the rest of the day. I really like the delay timer that allows you to fill the unit before you go to bed and not have it heat up until just before you get up. It probably takes about 15 minutes to completely heat a full load of water to boiling and then have it cool back to 195 F where I leave it.

Having had good experiences with other Zojirushi products, such as their bread and coffee makers, I decided to try this in my new office. While my old office had a kitchen, my new one doesn't so a water pot seemed to be a good solution.

Filling the pot with water is fairly easy, although the pot may prove a bit heavy to some when full. The directions aren't clear on this, but the lid does come off easily. Emptying the pot is easy as well. Emptying the pot at the end of each day is a good idea to keep down lime build up.

The water level indicator on the front of the pot is a bit hard to read at first. At least it doesn't have some sort of floating ball that can become stuck.

The pot has some sort of timer that I haven't quite figured out yet. It seems to be a timer to turn on, but a automatic off timer would be more useful.

The pot allows different temperature settings. But what the pot does is bring the water up to a boil and then somehow lowers it back down to the set temperature. Timewise, this makes for a counter-intuitive estimation of how much time it will take. You would think that a lower temperature would be quicker, but the opposite is true. The pot certainly does take longer to reach any temperature as compared to my electric Bodum pot, but not so much longer as to be a real bother. I save time in the long run by just having the water ready throughout the day.

As noted, the water is first brought to a boil. That was a concern as it may result in flat or lifeless water. However, the water tasted just fine. I'm using it exclusively for tea, mostly oolong and green. Tea, more than coffee, can reflect bad water but the tea doesn't taste any different than tea out of my regular electric pot.

The water temperatures are geared to tea, with the proper temperature for white, green, oolong and black tea. There is a setting for 205 degrees, a good temperature for coffee, but I haven't used it.

Speaking of coffee, there are two dispensing methods. One is to dispense at a normal (but by no means gushing) rate. The other is a slow dispense that I imagine would be great for drip coffee.

The thing is a bit noisier than I would have expected. When it reaches it first boil you can hear it. Thereafter, it is quiet. There's also a chime to tell you when it is set at the desired temperature.

The power cord is normal at the plug but is different at the pot. It has some sort of short plugs and a magnet. This makes it very easy to unplug when filling or not in use (there's no power switch, you just unplug it). In some situation, say on a busy kitchen counter, the plug may be knocked undone easily.

Clean up should be easy. The pot is fully open at the top and the lid comes off. There is some sort of small wire filter on the bottom that is easily struck when wiping out the pot and could become dislodged. The manual warns of this.

As may be seen in the photo, the dispensing nozzle is far enough away to fill a fairly large teapot. The entire unit swivels on the base. The exterior of the pot does not heat up appreciably and appears to be well insulated.

The only reason I knocked it down a star is that I don't see why it can't simply bring up the water to the desired temperature without having to come to a full boil first. While I didn't note any taste differences, it does add time unnecessarily.

September 2010 update: I've now been using this for over two months. Great product.

No funny smells. A light calcium scale deposit appeared soon after the first use but did not get appreciably heavier after that. I just cleaned it for the first time with a lime cleaner from the local grocery store.

The timer works well but I wish it had a longer time. The 10 hour limit does not enable me to set it when leaving work unless I want it to start at 3 a.m.

I loved it so much, I bought a second one for home.

August 2011 update: Been a year now with two of these units. No problems whatsoever. Lime does build up some on the inside but cleans up easily with some coffee machine cleaner juice from the grocery store. Use the cleaning cycle. I clean them every month or two, just to keep ahead of the build up. It helps to pull out the wire filter every week or so and give that a rinse. I do notice that the home unit builds up lime a bit quicker than the office. At home we use filtered water but at the office we have a service bring in water.

I probably just got used to the noise, but I really don't notice it any more, as noted in my original review.

Very good value.

I've used Zojirushi products all my life, rice cooker, water boiler, thermal lunch boxes, pressure cooker you name it. Ask any member of my family, the first thing they can tell you is that these machines are well made and they last!

I had to replace my 8 year old smaller 2L Zojirushi model because 1. it was 8 years old and the plastic inside started to deteriorate 2. 2L is too small for us, we make tea almost daily in the winter 3. when I moved, the shipping company banged it up real good so I need an upgrade

We picked this particular one for a couple of reasons.

Appearance: We like the simple champagne color without all the tacky flowers, would be better if it came in the sleek gray color, but this actually looks quite nice on the countertop and is not too gold

Functionality: As with any Zojirushi product, this does not disappoint. Easy release / dispense button prevents "accidental" leakage / pouring especially if you have young children. 4 different digital temperature control selection allows you to adjust (and hold) your water temperature as needed. We use it for tea, but imagine it'd be pretty convenient for a person who needs to make baby formula, coffee, instant noodles etc. etc.

Reliability: It's Zojirushi!

The price could be a bit steep for some, but considering the number of years you'll get out of this machine, it really is not that bad.

Tip on maintenance: save your money on the "cleansing tablets". Every month or so, I cut up a lemon, fill the machine with water, let it boil with the lemon and sit for about an hour. It smells nice, it's natural, and removes any deposits without problem!

ENJOY!

Reading the other reviews of this product I realized I had to write one of my own to help potential purchases realize they will really be missing out if they bypass this heater. This is the fourth space heater I've purchased in the last two months and finally one I can keep.

My living room has three sets of glass french doors, high ceilings, and lots of windows. It is very hard to heat it, but there is no central heating system, so I have to rely on space heaters. I tried the expensive Vornado (over $100), which didn't make a dent in the cold, the noisy Honeywell oscillator (which not only gave me a headache it was so loud, but also didn't provide quite enough heat, though it heated better than the Vornado), and the WindChaser radiant heater (which left the room freezing cold but made me sweat at the same time, extremely unpleasant). Finally I found this item.

It heats the room to the point where it actually shuts off sometimes, having reached the desired 65 degrees at night or 70 degrees in the day. The fan is as quiet as the Vornado when on high and is even quieter when on low. The quietest heater I've ever found. And as for the cord, while my oil filled heater does have a thicker cord and I do notice that this cord gets warm where that one doesn't, after 96 hours of continuous usage, it is just barely warm. Hardly anything I would worry about starting a fire, though a thicker cord would be a good investment for the manufacturer to make.

Given the natural limitations of space heaters, I think you simply can't do better than this one. If this heater doesn't work for you, then an electric space heater isn't going to do it for you and you should be looking at other heating options entirely.

I bought one of these at Wal-Mart for $28 (their normal price is ~$42). Since it is a 1500 watt ceramic heater, it heats as well as any other ceramic heater that draws that much current, so nothing to comment about on that point. What that means is it will heat up your room, but it will take a while if it is not a small room. To be expected. Since it is not a radiant (quartz) heater, unless you stand very close, you will not feel a lot of warmth until the ambient T goes up and that will happen from the ceiling area on down.

It operates quite quietly (fan and rotation)and is not annoying. The rotation is smooth. The remote is a very nice touch and handier than I thought it would be. The LED display is bright, but located on top, so you can't see it from the front of the unit if you are seated. A design flaw, I think. The three warranty is nice. Cobstruction is pretty much all plastic, so I wonder how well the heat grates will stand up over time when the plasticizers evaporate out of the plastic. Nice styling. There is a handle, but someone stopped thinking too soon and there is nothing for your fingers to grip, so you cannot pick it up sercurely with one hand.

As the other reviewer said, the cord does get warm, but not hot. The insulation is the same thickness as in other space heaters I looked at not really fragile. I don't think there is cause to worry here. It does not appear to be UL listed, however, which may be common among cheap space heaters and is slightly disconcerting. Probably a cost control measure.

Overall a nice unit with no serious flaws and adequate heating.

This is a rewrite of an old review. I initially gave it four stars and went on a bit over that I felt the cord should be heavier and would likely be the thing that ends up putting this thing out on the sidewalk. Well, I've owned and used this heater for five years now and can absolutely confirm no problems.

Further, we rent the entire floor of a townhouse in Queens, New York City and this heater has been great particularly for changes of season when the landlord typically doesn't turn on the heat. It makes a big difference in our comfort when our home would normally be cold and uncomfortable without it.

It heats a rather large space very well and you don't have to be sitting right in front of it get toasty warm as the fan is strong enough to blow hot air quite a distance. It is also not too noisy--no motor noise from the fan or buzzing from the heat element, just the sound of air moving.

It can oscillate, but we never bother using that feature. Just put it in a corner or a doorway and turn it on.

I don't know what the difference is between ceramic heat versus that of a steam radiator or kerosene, but I can say from experience that the heat from this unit is very comfortable--not too intense with one focused hot spot and the rest just warm, and you don't have to be practically sitting on it either.

Bottom Line: Five years on, I've certainly gotten far more than my money's worth out of this excellent little heater.

Purchased this product from Home Depot in January of 2006 and used it to heat a very small room, which it did well enough. This year after using it for about a month on and off, the heater would shut down after running for a short time. I cleaned the vents located in the back of the unit and it now appears to be working okay.

The power cord does appear to heat up to an alarming temperature.

Nice featuers: Oscilating movement, timer and remote.

Bad: Power cord heats up to where it is nearly melting. It will shut down if rear vents get clogged. And it does't do a good job of heating up a larger room. I wouldn't use it for a room larger than a 10' by 12' bedroom with 7' ceilings.

We have leased a two-story townhouse. We call the upstairs the Sahara and the downstairs Antartica. Heat rises up, so no matter what temp we turned the central on, the upstairs got hot, the downstairs.... ehhh. So we got one of these for our living room and come downstairs in the morning and turn it on. It makes a major difference. We *love* it. My dad's wall heater went out so we brought him this until the new one came (2 days later) and had to fight to get it back. :) We bought him one online and it should be delivered next week. He (like us) liked the silence, the osccilation, the temp control... everything. And we're not heating just a bedroom, we're heating a big living room. It makes a world of difference. Love everything about it. Remote control way cool when you're sitting down and think ya wouldn't mind having it a tad warmer around you. I've read the other reviews, we haven't had "cord" heating troubles. Just warmth and with the osccilation, it isn't just blowing one direction, it's spreading the warmth all around.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've had a Breville BKE820XL Variable-Temperature Kettle for over a year now. Its brilliant design has made it my favorite appliance, a pleasure to use every time I make a cup of tea. So when I got the chance to try out the Sharper Image Select-A-Temp, I thought I'd take the opportunity to compare the two. Here's a breakdown:

Interface: With the Breville, you hit one of five temperature buttons (from Green Tea up to Boiling), then hit start. The button lights up, and you can tell even from across the room what state the kettle is in--is it heating up? Has it finished? If so, is the water still hot enough? It also provides audible feedback, beeps that are loud enough to hear from the next room but not so loud as to be irritating. The Sharper Image uses a small digital display on the handle. A blinking icon tells you that the kettle is boiling. There is no audible feedback beyond the water itself. There's no indication of what the current temperature of the water is.

Features: Both have a "hold temp" feature for when you want to keep the water at the temperature you heated it to, though the Breville's way of doing this is much more intuitive. The Sharper Image also offers an "overboil" feature that makes it keep going for a few minutes after hitting 212°, and you can heat water at any 10-degree interval from 110° up to 212° (the Breville's minimum is 175° for green tea). The lower temperatures might be useful for, say, making hot cocoa for small children.

Details: The Breville has a large lid that opens fully and smoothly at the press of a button located within thumb's reach of the handle, making refilling a breeze. The Sharper Image has a smaller lid with a release button on it, which feels clumsy; worse, it opens at an angle, so refilling the kettle in a sink requires you to keep the kettle tilted.

Looks: Comparable. Both fit well in a modern kitchen, with their abundance of stainless steel. Both have roughly the same footprint. The only cheap-looking part of the Sharper Image kettle is the oversized handle with its awkward buttons.

Performance: Comparable. In my stopwatch test, both took about 4:45 to boil 1L of water.

Warranty: Comparable. Both come with 1 year of coverage.

Price: The one area where the Sharper Image kettle has an advantage, at half the price of the Breville. You get what you pay for.

In short, what we have here are two kettles which both do the same thing (heat water to various temperatures, quickly); but while one is a paragon is appliance design, the other feels clunky and dated. One takes two easy button presses to heat water to the desired temperature; the other can take several. One provides pleasant audible and visual feedback when it's done; the other just stops. Yes, the Breville is more expensive, but if you plan on using it every day, then it's worth every penny.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a high-quality kettle. At 1500 watts it isn't under-powered like too many other kettles out there which means you get so save money because it will heat your water faster. Furthermore, because you can control the temperature of the water (you can set it to boil from anywhere between 110 and 212 degrees Fahrenheit) you can further save money on your electricity bills and/or ensure that the water is boiled just right for the kind of tea you're making. Add to that the fact that the kettle rotates on the power base, that its top opens up, making it easier to clean than many of its competitors makes this a very practical kettle.

My quibbles then don't have to do with the practicality but with its aesthetics. The handle is a bit chunky. Maybe it's that I have small hands but I find it a bit awkward to pick it up when it's full. Also, it doesn't keep water hot for as long as some of its competitors. (Unless of course you use the Warm Keeping Mode but that rather defeats the energy saving point.) The digital display also makes it somewhat hard to see when the kettle is on.

All in all, I would say this is a great kettle for someone who is very practical or very particular about their tea. Obviously it would be ideal for someone who is both! It may not be the right kettle for someone who prizes elegance above all in her kitchen though.

Personally, I quite like it and recommend it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I compared this kettle by lining it up with our household's two other electric kettles: my unbreakable workhorse Braun and the amusingly-psychedelic Saeco.

First the speed test: I measured 32 oz of cold tapwater into each. I ran them consecutively using the same electrical outlet: Braun 4:58; Sharper Image 5:30, Saeco 5:00. For serial tea-making (us Brits have to work harder at assembling our daily caffeine dose), the Saeco is my favourite because it will keep water warm for two hours, compared to 30 min for the Sharper Image. Is that environmentally bad? Not if it's heating season, when any source of heat inside the house is about as green as any other except for wood or solar.

[Note: For longevity of the unit, I recommend always boiling slightly more water than you need. If you completely empty an only-just-boiled kettle, the heating element, though turned off, will continue to heat the kettle well past boiling, and perhaps past the design limits of the various plastics.]

The temperature-holding function works well, holding temperature close to desired. The Saeco temperature-holding function is simpler to use, but the Sharper Image is more fine-grained, offering 10F increments.

All three are difficult to fill because the lids don't open far enough, for no obvious reason at all. The Sharper Image loses a star because it has no indicator light and is purely right-handed, with the fill window only on the left side. That is annoying even if you are right-handed.

It loses another star for now because the fit and finish are slightly shoddy, with visible manufacturing gouges and irregularities, and the injection-moulded plastic looks like something from the pre-CAD 1970s, with a marred surface showing visible weld lines, cavities, and flash-marks (Sharper Image! Google 'finite-element-analysis software'). It may lose another star over time because the poor finish doesn't speak well to long-term reliability.

For now, though, it's just my least favourite of the three.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I lived in England for a while in the late 90s, and of course England is known for their tea drinkers. I had never used or even seen an electric kettle before, and had only used the old fashioned type you fill with water and put on a stove eye to use. In England, I was told that while most homes owned a television, EVERY home owned a kettle. So I bought one. And it boiled the water in 30 seconds. When I moved back to America, I had to search hard to find an electric kettle. Even Amazon only had one to offer, which I bought, but it couldn't begin to compare to the kettle I used in England. Of course kettles in America take much longer to boil due to the voltage differences, but otherwise the features are just as good.

Since then, electric kettles have become much more popular here and there are many sizes and types available. I've tried many and have been left disappointed, but finally found the Adagio UtiliTEA kettle with variable temperature, which I'll use to compare the Sharper Image kettle. Temperature control is important to me because green tea and black tea or coffee require different temperatures for optimum flavor. I've used and loved this kettle for a few years.

Now I've tried the Sharper Image kettle and I'm impressed! It's larger than my Adagio and offers multiple functions. My Adagio holds 30oz of water, while the Sharper Image kettle holds 57oz. Selecting the correct temperature is easy with the arrow buttons. You can push the Function button and choose to keep the water warm, which is helpful and not an option with the Adagio kettle.

I filled both kettles with 3 cups of very cold water and turned them on at the same time, with temps set to 212 degrees. Both came to a boil in almost the same time, with the Adagio reaching boiling point about 15 seconds sooner.

I only have two complaints. I wish there was a red indicator light to let me know it's doing what it should do. The digital indicator isn't lit and can be hard to see without the right lighting. I might not always want to turn the lights on in the wee hours of the morning. I also wish the kettle were entirely stainless steel instead of including some plastic interior parts. Since the manual does not state that the plastic is free of BPA, then it's safe to assume otherwise. I have the same complaint about the Adagio kettle.

I'm happy with the features and performance of this kettle and can definitely recommend it.

Out of the box, this product was defective: the button used to open the lid would not work it needs a few trials to get it open. The little screen that shows the set temperature and whether or not the warming is done to the desired temp., gets foggy with condensation (vapors get in and obscure the readings). I really needed a replacement for our Cuisinart (Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp 1.7-Liter Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle) which died in less than 2 years and it seems that this is not the one.

I replaced an old open flame ceramic gas type unit with the Kozy World KWN191 18,000-BTU Vent-Free Natural-Gas Infrared Wall Heater. The heater is located in a two car garage. I expected a marked improvement in air flow by using the fan. Unfortunately, the fan doesn't have much power and is hardly noticeable in pushing warm air from the unit. I thought also that it might help circulate oxygen to the Cozy unit and thus keep the O2 sensor from shutting the unit down... again not much discernable difference. Since the O2 sensor cuts off the Kozy heater if you turn it up to the higher BTU levels the thermostat control that should turn the fan on and off as needed never comes into play. Not worth the $35+ paid for and for no more than what it is, should have came with the unit already mounted. The mounting was easy but again for the cost--should have came mounted right out of the box. I would have been better off to bought (4) box fans from Wal-Mart @ $10 each to move the warm air and to circulate fresh air to the unit. Shipping from BIC Superstore was fast but the charge was high to TN.

It helps spread the heat around, but not very well. The thermal sensor seems quite slow to respond to the heater also. It takes several minutes after the heater ignites to the fan turning on and the same when the heater turns off. All in all, my ceiling fan does a better job of spreading the heat out than this fan does. If you need a fan for your heater get a cheap box fan.

Want Kozy World 20-6027 Wall Heater Blower Discount?

I agree with the other reviews that the fan is not powerful. But I do notice a difference when running the fan vs not running it. The heat seems to get to the other side of the room quicker, even if I don't feel a lot of air being blown out of the heater. The fan has its own thermostat, so it waits for the heater to get hot before turning on, then it remains on after the heater turns off, until the heater cabinet has cooled down.

It has a 3 position switch Off, Manual (always on) and Automatic (thermostat control).

Installation is simple. Just remove the 4 screws in the metal plate on the back of the heater, discard the plate, shove the blower in, then secure with the same 4 screws. No wires to hook up. The blower has an AC cord already installed. The blower works completely independently from the heater. If your power goes out, you can still use the heater without the blower.

I'd rate it 5 stars if the blower was more powerful.

My wife and I absolutely love the fireplace door and screen we purchased for the home we just moved in to. It is sturdy, doors open easily and shut completely, and everyone who comes to our home notices and compliments it. The only small hang up is that neither of the two mounting options quite fit our fireplace so I had to slightly modify the two brackets by drilling an additional hole in each. Then it fit perfectly and we couldn't be happier with it!

After reading several reviews stating the box labeled nickel in fact contained black doors, I ordered this product with some trepidation. Luckily, the doors ARE indeed nickel colored (although not a silvery brushed nickel as I had hoped).

I am very satisfied with these fireplace doors:

* Amazon PRIME shipping had the doors arriving at our home in three days.

* The packaging was excellent & protected the doors from transit damage.

* The doors were easy to install (without any help) because the instructions were clear & easy to follow.

* The holes IN the door handles were drilled slightly mis-aligned, but it was no big deal.

* I am VERY satisfied with the overall quality of these fireplace doors & can't wait to build our first fire.

Side note: I wish this company also offered fireplace tools as an accessory (in the same powder-coated nickel finish). I decided to have my brass tools and log-rack blasted & powder coated in a matching nickel color to make our fireplace really POP!

You will have no regrets on this & we bought it at a price, i think $225 or so, which was better than any local big box stores. They just had the crummy ones that sit on the mantle & are not bottled down on it.

I am very pleased with this purchase. The item shipped promptly and arrived in perfect condition. It went together without a problem, although we had to leave the back off to allow for electrical cords. It is a well-made and sturdy piece of furniture, and looks really good in my living room. The glass doors fit well and the remote works through the glass. California summers don't require a fire, but I tried it out and am looking forward to watching the flicker and glow in the winter! I would definitely recommend this item, and after reviewing several other similar options, I feel this purchase was excellent value for money.

It took 2 guys 2 hours to put it together. Everything was fine except for the fireplace insert, a little piece of the metal was bent. Not bad enough to send back, though. I was able to fix it for the most part. Other than that, I love it.

This little fireplace is worth its weight in gold. It's attractive, light weight, cool on top so I don't have to worry about the cat frying herself, and heats up my office beautifully. The fan is a bit louder than I'd prefer, but that is a minor issue since it's in the same room as two computers. However, I don't think I'd want it in a bedroom.

One caveat: If you turn the unit off and move it, it will not turn back on until the heating element cools down. This is a design feature, according to the manufacturer, but not mentioned in the documentation.

I've been searching for a small, efficient, quiet fireplace stove for several months and have always held back on a purchase because after reading reviews I learn they are either inefficient or loud! After doing a thorough check online about this particular stove, I finally ordered it on Amazon! It arrived in perfect shape, all I had to do was screw on the legs which took about 5 minutes and after reading the directions it was up and running! I really like the option of choosing one of the 500 watts of power or both so energy isn't wasted when I don't need that much heat output. You can also control the intensity of the realistic looking flame or simply leave it off. The stove runs quietly even on the highest setting. The infrared heat is a bonus over other stoves as the heat is absorbed and reflected. I'm using this heater in my 3 1/2 year old grandson's playroom at our home and the safety factor of the unit remaining cool to the touch is a high priority of course, the actual heat source at the bottom of the stove is still a "hands off area"!!!! I can't vouch for the efficiency cost wise of this unit as I don't use it that often but my guess is that it's great! Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it.

The only minus I can think of is that it does not have a remote personally, I don't need one for its intended use but that might be a consideration for others...say if you're using it in the bedroom and don't want to get out of bed to turn it off or on!?

Another note is that I had questions about the unit before I bought it, wrote to the manufacturer and received a thorough, speedy reply via Amazon always good to know communications are good!

I received this heater at the end of Dec. 2012. Even on high it does not put out enough heat to heat 600 Sq. Feet of space.

Can't really state it's electricity usage because of many other electrical use factors. For around $200.00, this item

is certainly not worth it. It has the basic metal coils at bottom of heater that turn bright orange and a small fan blowing across

them. Typical of old stlye heaters. Many other equalivants at walmart for half the price.

This is a quality wood rack. It's constructed of heavy metal tubing. I recommend using 1 1/2" x 1/4" lug bolts to install it to the 2"x4"s. You'll have to drill the holes in the metal to a larger diameter, but when it's done it will last for years.

Just received three of these log racks, and they were easy to put together. I was disappointed they are 37" high from the installed 2x4 to the top of the rack. Also they are 13 " wide. This compares to my Landmann 8' and 4' racks, that are powder coated and have a cover and are 41" high and 14" wide. The paint finish is not the best and they are slightly rusted out of the package. They need a cross brace at the bottom to insure they don't spread, and I'll have to install a 2x4 for this purpose. Also, the picture shown on the product page gives the impression of having cross bars, which they don't have. I see no need for the panels to have extensions they could have been made in one piece. All in all they will work for my extended storage.

I am a fancy match nut, so I am always looking for new and unique box designs. I bought these to put out for Valentine's Day. The matches are very good quality. However, I was very disappointed that the seller put a big giant sticker on the box, which ruined that side of the box. I tried to peel it off, but it is not an easy-off sticker, like many sellers use. It started to tear the design, so I decided to just leave it on. I guess one side is still OK, but I won't buy from this seller again, due to the sticker placement. The matches are great, though, if you can buy them from someone who won't ruin them with a big ugly sticker.

This fan is perfect for my bed room at any time. I needed a nice fan for sleeping and this works perfect, level one blows just enough air onto me for a great breeze and sleep. The fan is super quiet for the amount of air it pushes,no fan will ever be silent. You cant hear the motor at all. totally worth it!

i attached the video to hear the fan on each setting. The video starts on setting 1 then when it beeps it goes to level 2 then the next beep is level 3 . about 10 secs apart for each setting. the camera is 2 feet away and not directly on the wind path

update 7/31/13

the motor on setting 1 and 2 will make an annoying clicking sound from time to time which makes the fan unusable at night for sleeping

So initially I had bought this unit and had a bad experience with it. It had just stopped working after a couple of weeks. Surprisingly enough Miallegro is pro-active in helping their customers. They replaced it and shipped it for free. Not only that, but their customer service is actually polite. As we all know, lots of companies have rude customer service. I just had to get that out of the way in case any of you have issues with your fan.

Now onto my review of the product. I was looking for this particular type of fan because the fans that oscillate the entire tower always end up giving me problems. With the inner oscillation, I find it to be more reliable. This 2nd unit has been just that. Also the fan is rather quiet on the low setting. The medium and high settings on the fan move a large amount of air without the annoying loudness that most fans have. Unless you're a light sleeper, you'll be able to sleep with this on. If you have issues with limited floorspace, you'll be pleased to know that this fan takes up an extremely small amount of space for the job it does. Lastly, this fan just looks cool. It's sleek, has that l.e.d. display, and the display slides back to reveal the remote's location.

Overall I'd have to say that I'm quite pleased with this fan. It does the job it's designed to do and it does it well. For being a brand that isn't as well-known as the major brands, in my case it stands above them.

Here was my original review I posted, until it died. My additions are at the bottom.

For people who are worried about noise, and watched the video the other poster posted, remember, that was a directional mike on a camera very near the unit. I was shocked at how silent this is compared to my other fans. At high, this is still less noticeable than my Honeywell at low.

Granted, it doesn't move as much air as that does at high, but I didn't want that much airflow unless I'm drying out my basement. For my great room, this is outstanding. When I have the TV on at a normal volume level, 12 feet away I can barely notice the fan noise at high. At medium, I can kind of notice it if I really try.

I've got oscillating space heating towers, and as others have complained, the rotating unit is annoying and distracting. This accomplishes a great range of motion with only a small portion inside noticable as it moves. And that's more seeing light behind it as the inner mechanism pivots side to side and you are lined up right.

There was no smell or noise along with the ionizing on this unit, but by the same token I haven't noticed anything accumulating around the base as their customer support told me I would when I asked about cleaning the unit. Their reply was that there is nothing to clean in or on the unit, that the "dirt" will fall to the floor near it.

I have no rattling, no unusual noise at all, on any of the settings from the oscillation, no wobble, nothing.

It is incredible on low, because the room feels fresher, you get some slight air movement occasionally as it passes you, but nothing too obvious. Very subtle and very silent. On medium, same thing just a bit more of the breeze. High, it's enough to make me comfortable after work when the house reached 81 degrees since I had the air off all day, without having to turn on the air conditioner.

Now compared to my smaller "turbo" honeywell circular fan, it's not as powerful but then towers would never be that powerful as far as I can tell. If you need a very huge blast of air, this isn't for you. But if you're looking for something to make your area more comfortable without the annoyances of a standard fan, this is definitely a solution for you. Most attractive of all the ones I've looked at, blends very well into the room unobtrusively, and does its job well. Which is what I always look for, something designed well and functions well. This is and does.

EDIT:

24 hours later, the unit no longer oscillates. Light comes on, but the internal mechanism simply no longer operates. So returning it. Went from 5 star review to 3, won't give it a 1 since clearly this is not a "normal" issue otherwise all these people who reviewed would've had a different story, but also obviously it's a crapshoot...

Best part is the whole body does not rotate. First I thought the rotation feature does not work. But once I found out it rotates internally, I thought it was innovative.

Summary:

I love this fan. I bought it having semi-high expectations it blew them out of the water. The remote is very nice, the color of the fan fits with all my interior design/dark colored themes. It's sturdy and the design is perfect.

Performance:

The fan is SUPER COLD! I actually have to lower it to temperature setting II b/c III ends up being too cold. I used to sleep with AC on 68 I know, I know, it's very cold. I now set my AC to 75 and sleep next to this fan blowing on me. It is the best thing and has already saved me $50-$100 off my expenses.

Bottom line:

Get the fan, you'll be very happy!

I wanted a large, functioning bellows for my fireplace. This bellows does not blow a large volume of airmore appropriate for a wood stove than a fireplace in my opinion. Prior to this I had a very old bellows of similar dimensions that simply put out a much larger volume of air. I had replaced it with a cheap one that also had better displacement, but that one predictably broke.

The materials and workmanship are very high quality, however. If you wanted something that made a nice decoration or if you build very small fires (or if you like to get a workout from doing lots of small pumping motions), then this bellows would be great.

It is possible that as this gets more use and the bellows material has more give that it will open further and be more functional, but for now it is frustrating to use. I have only used it about 10 times so far. At least it's pretty.

Very nice piece. It's hard to believe that this is not meant to be a decoration, and is instead a functional bellows. I use it for my outdoor fire pit, and it works as expected. It's a nice bonus that it is also hand made in the US.

Replaced an old wood burning fireplace in a 12x15 living room with this. I'm not one for tacky or gaudy; this is neither. Unbelievably realistic, attractive, and great source of heat. Couldn't be used to heat the house, but def takes the chill out of the room. Would recommend to anyone!

The imagery is real good and makes for a good fireplace insert. The problem comes from is when it's time to change the light bulbs. It requires some dis-assembly which should be no big deal but it is. After you dissemble the parts to get to the bulbs, it is still tight to get your hands in to unscrew the bottom bulbs. One was so tight

It blew up in my hands. leaving the screw part in the socket. Could not get it out. Tried to disassemble the box further to get at it better to no avail. Frustrated I bought a new one, to replace it. There was no guarantee, if I was able to get to it better that I would be able to get it out without breaking the plastic socket. I found it on sale on Amazon. So I bought the replacement. I have all the parts of the old one, I have another unused fireplace downstairs, when I get my basement ready I will reassemble it for looks...

We use this to remove creosote inside our chimney. It takes a while and you don't notice any dramatic changes, but we could see the shiny black creosote turn brown where we sprayed. After that, it brushed off quite easily. Thicker deposits require more spray.

I have never used anything but the granuals. One time my hardware store was out, I purchased the spray thinking that it be just as good. To my surprise it was quite the opposite. It turned the creosote to a gelatenous goo and have had several chimney fires and a year later I am still trying to get all the sticky stuff out.

I researched these wireless fireplace remote/thermostats and decided on this one for one major reason. It has the ability to set the swing temperature from the 2 degrees fixed on most down to 1 degree. This means it cuts off after the temperature exceeds 1 degree above setpoint and kicks on when it falls less than 1 degree below setpoint. With 2 degree swings you have to ride through 4 degree swings minimum which, in my opinion, is too much for a gas fireplace you are sitting anywhere near with the degree of radiant heating you get. The installation was as easy as it could be just disconnecting the bayonet connectors of the built in on/off switch and slipping on the built in bayonet connectors on the remote receiver unit. It even has connectors on the back of the remote receiver connections so you can piggyback the built in on/off switch on top of the remote receiver so, should you have the need to use it without remote you can. The build quality seems high and I am completely pleased with my purchase of this unit. It came and was installed in the late summer and I was thankful when our freak Halloween snowfall came this year and left us without power for a day including a cold night where my wireless thermostat kept the house warm without having to burn my entire tank by just leaving it on continuously.
