Added this to the gas fireplace we modified for gas logs. Has a realistic appearance and the quality of the screen is great.Still has not arrived after over a month. Don't order if you are in a hurry. This company is very slow and non-communicative. I'll update this review when the item arrives if ever!Measurement were right. No cutting or adjustments made. Have not needed a fire this summer so don't know how it will stand up to the heat. Will have to see.

This is a nice thick rug that saved our carpet several times this past winter. We've placed it in front of our wood-burning stove's platform and it works nicely to catch those stray embers when we are putting in more wood. Really trying to cut down on the oil use this year, so we're adding a couple of electric heaters. I got this for the den/tv room which is a decent size, but fairly well-enclosed. This thing is so easy to use, the flame looks great (kind of bizarre actually I forget it's fake) and in a short time it really heats the whole room quite comfortably. Quite a bit cheaper to run than my gas wall furnace and the flames look real enough. The only problem is that the motor that makes the flames move died after about two months and acehardwareoutlet only takes returns for 30 days after purchase. Anyway, Dimplex/Electralog is sending a new motor for free since they don't take returns at all and perhaps I'll have better luck this time. We bought this stove for our condo Christmas 2007. It gives a realistic (close enuf) flame and plenty of heat. We enjoy it very much. However, it doesn't last more than a few years. By Christmas 2010, the plastic translucent backing behind the fire image had rotted and fallen away exposing the light bulb and other 'innards' that nullified the cozy fire effect. Electralog told us we would have to get a new stove because it was 'non-repairable' as far as they were concerned. You can fix it yourself tho if you disassemble the back of the stove unit, find a similar plastic at a hardware store, and re-adhere it to the unit. I got this electric stove last year because it was on sale and I needed a new space heater. This is the first electric heater I've ever had with the dancing flames feature. I totally love it. This heater makes a great substitute for a Franklin stove (and you don't have to buy, store or haul any wood or worry about leaving the embers of a live fire unattended). It's really nice to be able to have instant heat with the flip of a button and a turn of the temperature setting dial OR if you are just in the mood for the dancing flames of a fire on a summer evening, you can have that too without the heater being on! I love my stove and I'm really glad I got it. It's a constant source of comfort and joy.

You'd have to be a moron to blame the manufacturer for you choosing the wrong dimensions. Read the dimensions which are clearly marked on the ad. They're designed to fit over Brookstone's Log Racks and they fit perfectly. Whether that happens to match the amount of wood you want to stack or not is certainly not Brookstone, OR Amazon's fault.

If you're someone that is not familiar at all with a mantle scarf, allow me to enlighten you. Its really a rather fancy name for a lace or cloth cover for ones mantelpiece over their fireplace. There was a time when scarfs for your fireplace were as well known and familiar as curtains were in a home. They just naturally started to fade from style when fireplaces began to be more of either a country oriented addition, or a fashion statement built into some homes merely for the cozy effect, rather than the true warmth they can serve. Mantle scarfs come in many different sizes and styles, but Amazon only seems to cover a couple in the lacy design. I happen to own this straight edged style pictured. I bought the scarf directly online from the Olde Church Emporium, the same company you will purchase it from through Amazon. I actually never even saw or considered a mantle scarf before seeing one in an old movie years ago stretching across a fireplace. My own mantle is frankly not all that much of a handsome piece of timber, so I all at once decided that a scarf would be a perfect addition to the living room. After receiving it and installing it, I have to say that there is really nothing in my entire home that I feel is more handsome, talked about, or complimented on than this mantle scarf. Frankly speaking it is absolutely beautiful. It sets off and accentuates any manner or style of decor you happen to favor on your mantle. And it looks just as resplendent with old style pewter plates as it does with modern art fixtures. Everyone who has seen it so far has said that they think it makes the mantelpiece and decor look 100% more attractive and cozy, as well as in most cases have never even seen a mantle scarf before. Personally its my favorite accessory in the whole house. I may be a little prejudiced for like a lot of men, I love my fireplace anyway. But I actually think this frilly laced mantel scarf is most rich and handsome looking indeed. These mantle scarfs come in a few different sizes, and I would suggest making sure you get one that is well long enough. It comes out of the package a little stiff, but quickly relaxes after you slip it over your mantle. A simple tack in the back will keep it from moseying around, and for the front, I used a double back tape here and there to keep it flat until it did it on its own naturally. These curtains are elegant and complement my old Victorian home. They are easy to install and easy to clean when necessary. They are well made and a good price. We bought this for our 10' x 12' sun room, where we spend most evenings no matter what season. As we live in Chicago, it can get quite cold in the winter. I did much research before arriving at this purchase. I live in New England and have electric heat. My baseboard heaters run efficiently, but use between 750 and 1250 watts per heater. At 16.2 cents per kilowatt hour, the heating costs add up. I bought this and the 165 watt rugbuddy based on amazon reviews, and, after researching different types of electric space heaters, I thought the rugbuddy might heat my living space with lower watts. The rugbuddy works well in conjunction with other heaters running at lower temperatures, but is not so great as the sole heating source unless the weather is brisk outside. The 165 works great in conjunction with the smallest, 350/500 watt baseboard heater in the bedroom. when it is 17 to 20 degrees outside, the room is 64 degrees inside. Plastic window insulation, thermal curtains, weather stripping, and caulking all contribute to help raise the temperature while lowering power consumption. However, the 470, I feel should emit a little more heat. I have been contemplating testing out a piece of aluminum foil between the rugbuddy and the rug to increase the heat produced. But I'm not quite sure if that will lead down the path to Darwin award candidacy. I bought this to warm the rug and surrounding area of the room. Well, the rug was warmed but I was expecting it to be warmer. Had no real effect on the overall comfort of the room IMO. Nice to lay on in front of tv or just stretch out.
