I purchased this item from Wal-Mart in Oct of 2008 when it was on sale. I am here at Amazon.com to buy a more expensive model. Not this one. This heater has only one heating ceramic, and heats up a "coil" or "folded" wiring system then the fan blows the heat into the room. This model does not put out the heat that a 4 ceramic heater will put out. This model is more costly to run than the more costly, but more efficient, models. Do not drop this model. Do not put it in an area where it may get knocked over. It is low priced for a reason. Didn't use it much until recently, too late to return. Has NO tip over switch as advertised and I have cats that occasionally take great joy in tipping things over, purchased this because of the switch. It does kick out the heat, and this one is not too noisy, it rotates fine, but now the cord it getting warm, not the plug into the wall but the cord which makes me nervous to leave it on at all if I'm not right there. We use this to get the morning chill out of our 25' travel trailer' when camping. We have found a comfortable thermostat setting and run it on low with no oscillation. It came in handy during out recent trip down the Oregon Coast where the temps we low 50's at night and low 60's and windy during the daytime.

Thermostat was 8 deg. off. Want it @ 72 then must set @ 80. When on ECO mode the fan never shuts off, On high the unit worked well. Not a good product for the cost. Yes, this quartz heater produces quick, efficient heat. We've had this unit for two heating seasons now and are happy with the heat it produces. The most unfortunate thing is that the thermostat is "out of control!" The only time we use this heater is when we are home (and awake!). I found it odd that the nature of this product and how carefully it needs to be shipped didn't have a seal under the cap when opening it. Makes me wonder if it was diluted? Everything arrived in time. I was disappointed by the scent of the oil, it does not smell as much as I thought it would: too bad ! But it does the trick of taking the bad odors out (cooking, kitty litter etc). So I guess I cannot complain too much.

This thing is small, but heats a normal sized bedroom really well. It's not too noisy and has several different settings to adjust. It also isn't hot to the touch which is great for me since I have a toddler in the house that likes to get into everything. I decided to review this because I saw bad reviews and I have used this heater in a travel trailer I lived in for 18 months and it works great. I was googling how to clean it when I came across this site. This heater worked great for the price and I ran it many, many hours. I would not leave a portable heater with a fan on when I am not at home, if you need to do that I suggest you get a quartz, infrared, or oil filled portable heater with no moving parts. With that said there is a switch if a pet or someone knocks it over it will shut off. I would recommend periodically blowing it out with compressed air like the cans for computers if you use it a lot. I had to disassemble to clean the dust from mine which was easy except for two plastic corners that space the heating element that I did not see how they were set before they fell out. I figured it out an it's running like new. The initial smell when you purchase it is normal for all portable heaters and will burn off. As far the 150 square foot rating that is really a guess. Outside temperature, R-value of the walls, thermal mass of the structure are all things that effect that. For it's small size it puts out quite a bit of heat but it won't heat a 30 foot trailer in 5 degree F weather. Unlike an oil filled heater it instantly starts putting out heat and it is directional. My unit gives off a "hot plastic" smell when turned on. It doesn't bother me that much, but the wife is concerned about the possible health effects the odor might have on the kids. I have a total of about 48 hours run time on the unit, and if the smell doesn't burn-off soon, then I'll have to take the unit back.

I bought these with some fire logs and glowing embers to make my propane fire pit look so very realistic. People cant believe the fire isn't a wood one except for they cant smell the smoke. Very realistic when burning.
